My first exposure was his fairly reasonable older stuff like Tunnel in the Sky and Citizen of the Galaxy. Then I found Starship Troopers, then Time Enough for Love. Basically imagine a thirteen year old laying in a hammock making the face for days at a time. That summer owned.

Examples I've read relatively recently: " 'All You Zombies' " and The Door Into Summer. In " 'All You Zombies' ", the protagonist takes his younger self to the past to gently caress his even younger self so she can become pregnant with him, then takes his newborn self to the orphanage to be raised there, then goes back to his younger self to recruit him to the timecops. In The Door Into Summer, the 30-year-old protagonist makes his friend's 12-year-old step-daughter, with which he has mutual attraction, promise she'll look him up after he goes through cold sleep so they can get married when she's old enough - but not too old, as he makes her promise she'll go into cold sleep when she's 21. Neither of them have anything to do with Lazarus Long's intergenerational fuckfest, but both are messed up in their own rights.

I found his Lost Boys in the library when I was a kid, and read it. It was messed up and not really in tone with the Ender books I had read beforehand. Similarly, David Eddings` The Losers was darker and way less kid-friendly than the Belgariad and its fantasy ilk.

As someone who used to be a 12 year old girl it is entirely possible for a girl that age to have a crush on a grown rear end man. It is also possible for a girl that age or even considerably younger to act 'flirty' because kids enjoy imitating adult behavior. In neither case is the girl desperately craving the D though. It would be pretty weird for her to stick with the crush until she's 21 and then go into hypersleep or whatever the gently caress. The thing about a crush is that it isn't really about the other person as a person but as an idea, and the idea that appeals to you when you're 12 is different than the ideas that appeal to you at 20. When you are 12 the boys your own age are dumb and icky and probably eat bugs, so the idea of a grown rear end man who has his poo poo together and drinks wine looks good. By the time you're 21 you know the grown rear end men who hang out with 12 year olds definitely do not have their poo poo together. So, yeah, this is a grown rear end man who observed normal adolescent behavior and completely misunderstood it.
