It's less of a meme that he's a dad and more of a meme that he won't stop calling his son "Boy." I was hanging out with a friend last night and talking about the game, so right before we left I said "Here, let's try this. I'm going to load up GoW and we'll stop playing when Kratos next says 'boy.'" It took about 20 seconds, and when I got back home and continued playing, not only did he say "boy" several more times, but after a couple of minutes I got to a sequence where (extremely minor spoilers) I had a literal "BOY" button to call out for him, as we'd gotten separated. That being said, it's not a negative at all, just a goofy quirk of a character in a (so far) extremely good game.
