moths posted:The thinking is that FW would sell much more if they lowered the prices. You've pretty much got it here. There would come a point of diminishing returns where the market is just not big enough for FW miniatures to sustain the number needed to pay for it at a much lower price point. You then add in the fact that GW proper like FW prices being that high, because it means their standard tac squad looks a million times better and FW becomes effectively a non competing product to them.

Just imagine if the west became more accepting of Forgeworld. By keeping Forgeworld alive it would possibly prompt more adults to research it and get converted into 30k fans (I am one myself), in turn increasing the amount that is imported and thus increasing Forgeworld revenues in glorious England, therefore increasing the amount of content created. We may have actually had studios like Hanger 18 and Karol Rudyk, who have done their fair share of miniature casts, start to produce Resin too. The more accepting the public is, the less of a big deal Forgeworld would be and so we'd finally have superbly cast resin involving step sisters, little sisters, cute aliens from outer space and childhood friends. There just isn't enough of this resin in the west, and the English are leading the way and leaving us behind. Not to mention we don't get Resin cast fast enough. Only a few high profile Resin models get cast quickly, but because we don't demand it in the west then there's no commercial involvement and we have to rely on recasters (Those kind souls), and so we miss out on a lot of the more niche resins. I don't only buy Forgeworld for the voluptuous thighs or the needle like nipples on their gorgeous daemonettes, I buy it for the fantastic way they are able to portray sexual acts. When was the last time you heard the phrase "I can feel your fat throbbing power fist ramming my mortal corpse at light speed. I am just losing my mind in anticipation for you to blow your huge Bolter magazine inside my rotting body, Big Brother." Never, that's when you last heard that in normal porn. You know, not to mention that the proportion of western models is totally off. There's things that Forgeworld can do also that no regular caster could. Leviathan dreads are one of God's greatest inventions, the way that a fallen soldier having a huge hulking suit can pull such a cute look is incredible. My cock survives on leviathans coupled with the sad mumblings of a mindbroken Chaos cultist. And of course huge models is nothing compared to what many amazing English men (maybe women) craft. The art work in some of those shoulder pads is better than anything which has came out of Italy in the past 1000+ years. Truly mind blowing stuff. The way they can make slaanesh daemons seem so soft and shiny, the way they can perfectly sculpt midriffs, the way they can get the absolute perfect amount of skindentation on thigh highs and the way they can make asses look like the softest, most delicious things in existence. Resin artists in the west often create art which looks like it's straight from your mom’s basement. Whereas Resin artists in England make art which looks like it's straight from the mind of a man with the greatest tastes. Just imagine how much more advanced humanity would be, how much we'd progress, how much happier we would be as a whole if it was just acceptable to watch a heavily armored Anime imperial armiger gently caress up its older step brother in the school gym. The fact that English man have smaller cocks than us in the west is no surprise when you consider how large their brains must be to come up with the most kickass blood pumping art known to man. This is the sort of future we miss out on when official casts of Forgeworld are cut from mainstream american gaming.

I wonder if the dude who wrote that about hentai was doing it unironically. Also, you made a mistake there stating that FW has good daemonttes when 1. They have none 2. No company has ever produced a daemonette to match diaznettes (wtf, Raging Heroes).

Okay, I need advice... I'm seriously considering going with Vlka Fenryka. I painted a couple of test models using the recommended colors, and after putting a lot of work into them once I put them down on the tabletop they looked like unpainted bare grey plastic. I don't really want to paint them 40K blue-grey. Any suggestions on how to make that grey look better? Maybe go a bit darker?

The models are at home, I'm goofing off at work... I used Mechanicus Standard Grey as a primer, airbrushed a darker grey (Vallejo German Grey) from below, then Administratum Grey airbrushed zenithal-style from above, followed by an edge highlight.

Cessna posted:The models are at home, I'm goofing off at work... There's your problem. Grey isn't very conducive to zenithal highlighting. It needs pretty crass definitions between transitions, and rather extreme highlighting.

You could use pigments or washes to modulate the color in some way. Like a warm dusty grey or a oily grey-brown. Grey is pretty boring by itself, yeah.

I used Mechanicus Grey followed by an overall Nuln Oil wash, then a Dawnstone dry brush and finally a highlight on all the most obvious edges with Administratum Grey and it came out really nice. I’d post a pic but I’m on my phone.

Vallejo black or grey surface primer through an airbrush is as good as it gets I think.

Is this the end of 30k as an official thing? Presumably y'all can carry on indefinitely with recast stuff, but it's a shame for a ton of time to have been invested in this only for them to pull out of it near the end (and with like 4 legions left untouched never mind all the roster gaps).
