RELAY: Erris has a nice meltdown about a midweek CitizenCon

:lol::lol::lol:

Erris experiences a Fukushima event discussing CIG’s choice of a Wednesday CitizenCon. (54:00 If on mobile.)

And this is his second one in the show, as he previously melted down about Erin’s disclosure that Squadron 42 would eventually be Evocati tested. Erris wants the subreddit shut down before that happens because he’s terrified of spoilers and fears they could ruin the entire experience for him. (They will Erris. Fight for no Evocati testing. The fact that they’re planning that instead of paid QA under NDA should have you asking all kinds of question and having yet more meltdowns...)

Lando already spoiled it anyway, Erris. Luke dies. Again. Thereby causing gamers to touched more deeply than ever in gaming history because Chris... Also, game is bad. Also because Chris. There you go!

On the CitizenCon thing though, he kind of has a point. Sounds like CIG picked their city without really thinking it through. A lot of the streamers and redditors are pissed about how inconvenient it’s going to be. Yet they have to go if they’re serious. Oh well. They can take one for the team for the sake of The Dream...

Interesting, Paul (TheAstroPub) thinks CIG is tanking this CitizenCon on purpose because they won’t have much to show. I don’t think that’s likely, personally, because having skipped Gamescom they HAVE to have a kickass CitizenCon or the entire Q4 turbobooster is going to be a big raspberry. Even if they have to fake it like they’ve done so many times before, there’s no way they’re not planning some big cinematics to get the goodwill reserves reloaded. They HAVE to because THAT IS THE DEAL CHRIS HAS IMPLICITLY MADE IN EXCHANGE FOR THEIR DREAM BUCKS.

I kinda get the feeling that the CitCons up until now, and probably this one that's coming up too, won't yet be *that* special so long as there'll be enough mental patients to circlejerk each others around and so long as the smoke and mirrors, as flimsy as they might be, will keep grabbing them.

But the very last CitCon, that'll be verging on the point of being a ghost-town and where the schadenfreude visitors might actually equal the stalwart true blue fans...that's deffo one that has me sorely tempted to spring major bucks to visit that special brand of misery. :allears:

Please to be restful, it is only a puffin that has from the puffin place outbroken.
What's really important is that Chris and Sandi get a free trip to party it up at Austin City Limits. The fact that CitizenCon is buried on a Wednesday in the middle of a giant music festival that spans two weekends is a comparatively minor inconvenience.

There's no way they aren't already working on another bullshot. Since they don't need a separate one for Gamescom it'll probably be quite impressive to the faithful.

They will have a really impressive demo, with 2 sandworms, and it will be announced that both SC and SQ42 are just around the corner, release immenent. Then there will be some sort of excuse how they won't be released due to something needing refactoring, and Chris has just had another amazing idea that will set back development another year, but it will have so much more fidelity because of it.

They had the not a joke Sandworm at CitCon 2016 and Blade Runner Arccorp meets Coruscant at CitCon 2017. Without a Gamescom event and nearing the end of yet another year of deflating hopes, Chris has no choice but to drop massive space pornage this year. This is their biggest rental venue ever, the out of town (out of country) audience attending will have been hugely inconvenienced for the chance to attend and they are counting on Chris to dazzle them like maybe never before this year.

Erin said Land Claims were the “mechanic” he was most excited about in 2018. Land Claims. This is in a year where they’re actually supposed to deliver actual core space sim mechanics like Mining & Salvage.

My guess is that even when Erin was being interviewed, he and Chris had already been cooking up their Next Great StarCon for CitCon 2018 and it’s all about their big real estate monetization plans. The procedural structure generation tech can be put to far more lucrative uses than just meeting their star system build out obligations. Scenic vistas with beautiful sunset views can be yours starting as low as $50, but if you’re looking to really make yourself at home, well, have we got a $urprise for you!

Of course he's excited about that. It's easier to deliver, nobody really gives a poo poo about it and it won't really matter if it's riddled with bugs, especially since everything else is in a sorry unplayable state.
