This may be the least sensical movie I've seen in a while.

So it's the future, where something happened and androids took over and have enslaved humans in some sort of theme park where they can gently caress humans. They keep people in historical-themed areas, with such evocative settings as Either Flapper 20's Or Western, India, and the ever-popular Flaming Barrels In Trash-Strewn Alleys.

So many flaming barrels...

Anyway a baby is born for the first time in a long time apparently even though most of the humans are in their mid-30s to early 40s. Except for all the guys who look like Dads.

Also this movie was made in 1994 somehow.

e: also there are wizard-looking guys for some reason now?

e2: At least 80% of this woman's lines are variations on "Give me back my baby!"

I know there have to have been training films made for lawyers, but I'm not sure how to find any. Much less one that they could riff. Does anyone have any ideas? Or does anyone want to see them do shorts for other fields they havent covered yet?

Double posting, but I was looking thru old shorts and the dad in this short is peak 1950's.

From reading to the kids while smoking his pipe to reminiscing about his childhood while smoking his pipe, to praising industrial agriculture while smoking his pipe. If Rifftrax ever needed a model for stereotypical 50's dad he would be it.

Backerkits emails are out so if you pledged to the latest Kickstarter you'll get some of the digital rewards. Like the shorts or any store credit.

I'm a bit unclear in how to use that site. It says I have the $10 credit for the digital shorts, but there doesn't seem to be a way to claim them on there. Is that coming separately? (If so, then why say I have $10 in credit on this store?)

Did you do the survey in the email that you received? Once I did that, it redeemed the credit and gave me the downloads.

Fairy King of Ar

https://www.rifftrax.com/fairy-king-of-ar

quote:

Fairy King of Ar is a delightful journey into the magical land of fairies. It starts with Grandma dropping dead and dad contracting emphysema. And once you get a look at the fairy “special effects”, we think you’ll agree it gets even more depressing from there.

When former leading man Corbin Bernsen discovers an ancient gold mine on his family’s property, he thinks it could be his ticket out of doing movies like Fairy King of Ar. But the mine is said to be inhabited by goblins and the townspeople fear that entering it could unleash a terrible curse. So Corbin does what any real American dad would do: send his kids in first!

Meanwhile, Malcolm McDowell continuously trespasses on the family’s property, literally assaults the children, and tries to bash a fairy’s head in with a shovel. This is the comic relief character. At this point it should be obvious that Grandma got off easy.

Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for goblins, fairies, giants, and perhaps the longest bike chase scene in any movie since Time Chasers in Fairy King of Ar!

Lowtax gave a clue about the movie in another thread. An Italian movie with a boat. I'm putting my money on it Rifftrax's first animated feature. Titanic: The Legend Goes On.

Who couldn't love a cast of characters that includes "a family of Yiddish mice, some geese, a dog named Fritz, a magpie named Hector, and a band of Mexican mice."

Edit: The Yiddish family wouldn't include Fievel, he made the trip over in 1885.

It's only the end of the world.

I'm pretty sure I died halfway through Fun in Balloonland and just hallucinated the entire second half of that movie/all reality afterwards, because that's way more believable than it being a real thing that a human person made and distributed on purpose.

Sorry about the state of the world, everyone. It's my balloon-addled death brain's fault.

A curious tidbit about Attack of the Puppet People: it's a movie that helped to catch the Watergate burglars.

https://www.washingtonian.com/2012/06/20/the-bartenders-tale-how-the-watergate-burglars-got-caught/

quote:

Across the street in the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge, a “spotter” for the burglars, Alfred C. Baldwin III, was glued to the TV watching a horror movie, Attack of the Puppet People, on Channel 20—oblivious to the situation developing across the street. Baldwin was holed up in a disheveled seventh-floor room with a window facing the Watergate.

If squad car 80 had been in service and pulled up in front of the Watergate with lights flashing, siren wailing, and a uniformed police officer emerging from it, that surely would have pulled Baldwin’s attention away from the horror movie and likely given him time to notify the five burglars via walkie-talkie so they could have escaped and the illegal entry gone unnoticed.

Instead, by the time Baldwin noticed that things had gone awry across the street, it was too late.
