Going to try to post all my homework so I can stay disciplined during my courses. Let me know if exercises type stuff like this isn't allowed or takes up too much space. Line and ellipses exercises:

Looks great, the wispy lines feel very stringy and physical. TheMostFrench posted:Kind of long-faced but probably the best reference drawing I've done in some time. Got lazy with the hair. This is really cool what is the medium?? Here are some more of the same things I usually draw: I decided to invert the shadows and do it heavy black because I was bored of the model Here's a doodle I didn't resize or lighten or anything, just transferred from my phone

Not technically a daily drawing, although I think all of these have appeared in the various incarnations of this thread. I'm applying for my first art show, and had to put together a sample booth. It was really cool seeing the years of work all hanging together all official-like

Subject aside, I love this style of portraiture. Do you start from a pencil sketch or just go for it?

I need to post the vid yet, but I generally start with several quick drawings just to get an idea of a face down and how I want to render it. Don't forget to check his lapel.

Everyone in the thread is doing good work and should pat themselves on the back. If you're reading this, I mean you. Pat pat. Except this, how dare you make me see this with my own two eyes.

I've been extremely lazy the past week, probably due to fatigue from my thesis. Then the past few days I couldn't convince myself to sit down and draw anything due to my brain farting "it'll just be the same poo poo you've done a thousand times before and you won't dare do anything new anyway so why bother." Then, tonight I've been experiencing weird trembling, and on top of that my tablet was being lovely, but despite everything I managed to put another one of those thousands of same things out, so here we are. https://twitter.com/Shinmera/status/991809778312712193 I guess at least I changed my usual line width

I recently (maybe a few weeks ago) decided to give pencil drawings a go during long boring evening/night shifts at work. I find it really relaxing just laying down graphite, blending it, erasing a bit, repeat, it's oddly zen. Anyway, here's a sphere I shaded in about an hour today, B pencil on 150gsm. Photo as I don't have a scanner atm.

School finals mean I haven't had as much time to spend drawing as I want. By which I mean I've squandered the free time I have playing Dawn of War II instead of doing art of course. Some butts for the thread. Trying to dip into color again, it's really frustrating. It's obviously not coming out very well but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to be doing differently, what I'm not seeing. Like I wouldn't expect to instantly be good at something new, but I would think at least some of the same skills and experience would come into play. I feel like I'm starting from scratch. I tried to draw the same image in greyscale and that was really frustrating as well. Most of the shading looks like a bunch of disconnected blotches, but when I look between my finished drawing and the original I can't see how I would do it any differently. As much as I want to think it just takes practice, I also feel like my approach or mindset is off so I may just be digging myself into a bad groove. I don't know what it is that I don't know. Here's the original, not safe for work obviously, it's from a softcore porn site: https://imgur.com/35GgaKe I don't wanna be too down on myself, I know these aren't terrible drawings , just feeling kinda stuck. I've been drawing these weird melty guys a lot lately:

One thing that might help is to remember warm colors come forward and cool colors recede. Warm shadows are tough.

I think the disconnectness could be the way you've got several lines defining the shadow edge on the upper back, which might put down too heavy a separation on an area where the shading is very light to begin with. I think if you'd "blurred" the edges a bit, making them like that zigzaggy pattern you've already used and following the form of the body with your most visible strokes the shadows will maybe settle down? I think it might be easier for the eyes to accept the crosshatching as 3d instead of flat if you don't have too many layers of different directions of hatching implying a flat surface. I mean, looking at the butt and the arms, you've got lovely soft shadows that follow the form of the body, and they look great! The only difference between them and the back is that you've mostly got one "flat" shading direction in them that you've boosted with form-defining lines. Also I love your no-nonsense ghosts. Today for me: Break all that ain't yours

Thanks! Pen settings were "lamy fountain pen" and "watercolour" The trick is finding a good waterproof ink - I use platinum carbon black.

Little vignette from our game last night. The party goblin rogue royally pissed off the party sorcerer. Rogue won. That's what happens when all your spells are Dex saves. I'll deepen the blacks later, but it looks a lot better in person.
