New Death Cab coming in August, hell yeah. It's been a few years for them.

This is their first album without Chris Walla in any context, and he was basically the lynchpin of the entire band. It would interesting to see where they go from his departure.

Man, Death Cab used to be so good. I'm one of those ding-dongs who heard about them from The OC, and Transatlanticism is in my Top 10 For Life but they've steadily gotten more and more boring and rote as time's gone on.

We'll see how the new album is though.

Idk, I thought Codes & Keys sucked for the most part but really loved Kintsugi, their version of a Cure album, and I still bump that one all the way through regularly.

Agreed. Also, saw them live in Seattle for Kintsugi, and they put on an amazing show

I liked them for a bit in high school around 2002-2003 but kind of fell off them quickly. My girlfriend was obsessed with them though in 2005 and I paid a lot of money to see them open for the Psychedelic Furs in Chicago.. we stayed for a bit of the Furs songs then left but old me would much rather see the Psychedelic Furs and I regret that we didn't stay.

The last (and only) time I saw them was '09, so around the Narrow Stairs/The Open Door EP era, and it was loving great. They played a bunch of old stuff that I wasn't expecting to hear but was pleasantly surprised by (405, We Laugh Indoors, Fake Frowns, Transatlanticism, etc.)

Apparently they've only played here once since then, in 2011 for the Codes & Keys tour. I didn't go to that one, probably because I didn't like most of Codes & Keys and the ticket price was probably expensive. I guess they just don't like playing in New Orleans for whatever reason

Codes & Keys isn't all bad, though. It has this song, which I'd consider one of my favorite DCFC songs period:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkk5wViJo-I

It's just a shame the majority of the rest of the album is boring as poo poo.

Still, they've been one of my favorite bands for like 14 years now and I'm excited to see what they've got in store for us next.

Plans was one of the few albums that kept me going during the whole Hurricane Katrina evacuation weirdness.

Doesn't really come as a surprise after the singles they released but the new Matt and Kim album is easily their worst.

Ya, holy gently caress these past few release have been garbage. I tried listening to some of their stuff and gave up on it as well as passing on a show a few weeks back. I don't think they have it anymore.

New Florence song out today/yesterday. I know shes been big for awhile, but still has the indie sound to me, and still has an amazing voice.

idgi these are so much better than the singles he's released

finally got to see the national this weekend after ten+ years of missing them and/or having it not work out. result: it was loving amazing. bonus: when matt came into the crowd for mr. november, he came down our row. i put out my hand and got awkwardly left hanging by him, then gave him a weird sidehug to shuffle him along. totally worth it. also... having now stood face to face with him, i realized that he is really goddamn tall.

Tonight at the Met Gala 2018, the most unexpected duo made an appearance: Grimes and Elon Musk. Claire Boucher and the SpaceX CEO/Tesla co-founder arrived together on the red carpet. Musk told reporters that he helped design Grimes’ dress. He also described their outing together as a “date night.”
