Now I'm no bearologist, but it doesn't take one to realize that those bears are prepping up for hibernation. The fat stores provide energy for the long sleep and the roundness of the body creates a natural bed. I'd hazard a guess that they also gather large jugs of water to drink if they wake up for a little bit in the winter as well.
