So I recently hit 31 on my SK and I'm kind of lost on what to do next. I spent most of my time grouping and soloing in upper guk and I can probably stay for couple more levels but my gear isn't the greatest and I'm pretty broke. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should hit up next?

They're good money, especially if you can sell the scrolls to players farming them for the Qeynos turn in. They also drop tons of fine steel, and gnoll hide lariats are good pet weapons for mages, etc.

Snag a wu's quivering staff to keep 2HB leveled up as you go. It doesn't take long each level and it will easily outdamage trance sticks once you hit 20 and you're out of low level damage cap hell. On that note, it's worth keeping fists leveled as you go as well - you'll thank yourself later when you inevitably get your epic (monk's one of the easiest ones). As far as other gear, prioritize whichever HP/AC rings fit your budget (these should go on all twinks pretty much) and any other nearly free hp>>>>ac>str>dex gear. Don't waste money on super marginal ac/stat gear, save it for bandaids/better weapons/haste/fungi. Camping Dalnir with a goon is a good call if you can find someone feeling generous. Oh, and roll Iksar - you'll have less deficiencies to make up for via your budget.

I will escort you through Crypt of Dalnir for Crescent armor once you hit level 17, new monk. I usually rotate between Skullmonkey, 60 warrior, Klaymen (wizard), or Hoborg (46 Ranger). I am also a rare spawn, so feel free to post in the thread once you get rolling along. As for the rest of you degenerates, I'll be on Discord or in-game periodically to chat or assist people with ports/short adventures (<90 minutes) as I try to find some dungeon groups. Looking to assemble a Sebilis, Kedge Keep, or Tower of Frozen Shadow group.

How do you deal with a getting a res due to the server dropping connection and dying to a giant? I petition but realize it's a couple dudes so it might not even get answered and that means your 3 hours corpse rot is ticking. I am now logged off to stop it from ticking down, but now I can't be online to respond.

If it is something you think is petition-worthy, the best way to handle it is to petition on your dead character and give the account and char name of another character you'll log in on while waiting. I dunno if timers still tick when you're on the same server account, so it's best to get on a diff account entirely - you can get another server account easily at eqemulator so it's not like it's much of a hassle.

Spasepope is a character/account (Spasepope is the only character on the account) that gets passed around. Mebash of Kittens Who Say Meow made the character/account, but the account info is passed along pretty freely to anyone in Kittens, and druids/wizards in Kittens are pretty happy to help port Spasepope around to wherever the rez is needed. Next time I log onto Spasepope (I have the info, but I wasn't the one who gave you the rez) I will make sure to maintain the train fetish theme, for character consistency. Somebody needs to get Spasepope's surname changed to Trainlover or something.

Anyone use GINA, when i'm running 2 games (eq alt tabbed) and gina, it seems to cap the FPS in the other game to 30. Can I fix this?

You are running two p99 characters at the same time? I don't think so because the GMs get reports of characters coming from the same ip and ban them super quick.

This is Nvidia side of things, but you can force any application to use 3d settings of your choosing. I added GINA since it did not show up in the control panel and change the circled settings to unlock framerate, stop vsyncing, and something about my monitor refresh rate which was already set to what I wanted.  This is not a solution. This is just a suggestion.

Is bard PbAOE really only 2 damage until level 10 or so, and only 3 damage until 18? How the hell does anyone mass AoE kite at that horrifically low level of damage? That’s like... possibly 100+ ticks to kill something.

When you are kiting 200 things at once, it doesn't matter that it takes 10 minutes. *edit* I don't actually know if bards can hit an unlimited amount of stuff with PBAOE but I assume they can, that's how druid PBAOE kiting worked when I did it in Luclin, dragged 100 mobs around in The Grey for 15-20 minutes for $$$, also lagged the gently caress out of myself and died a bit before I figured it all out.

When you right click inspect an insturment and see the "stringed mod ___", divide that number by 10 and multiply it by any numerical factors in the spell and that's what it'll do. A lute of the Gypsy Princess from Mistmoore has a 21 stringed modifier, so multiply the damage by 2.1. On my level 14 bard with the lute out, it does something like 11-12 damage a tick which isn't *great* (it's less than the druid insect swarm at 13 a tick), but it's also completely mana free and can be kept up indefinitely with 2 other bard effects. Coupled with the horn DoT you get in your teens, you can actually start doing a not-insignificant amount of damage with both together when swarmkiting, especially if you're fast enough to be swapping instruments to max out damage. Bards are really interesting, none of their damage options are really good, but they can be used in creative ways and over long endurance periods that other classes only dream they could have. Also keep in mind that at this point in the game, Damage over Time spells do something like 35% less damage to someone who isn't rooted, feared, or engaged in melee, if they are chasing you, your DoT damage is getting dinged for it because EQ developers hated people fighting things in ways they didn't intend (like running away from something until it died from insects/poison/bad guitar playing)

Bards killing people with music isn't all that far fetched. Babbage was killed by a team of angry organ grinders who he had tried to get kicked out of the city, they camped outside his house and wore him down all day and then he had a heart attack or something. I've never played a bard, sometimes I think about it but eh.

Every time I've played bard I enjoy it less because if you talk with your group, try to be social, etc, you're objectively worse at barding.

Bard song rotations are honestly less intense than something like FFXIX (which in and of itself is less intense than wow) but the thing is that it's constant, inside and out of combat. Out of combat you'll be twisting regen and mana songs at a minimum with speed or resists coming up for the puller, so there is basically no downtime for you.
