To be fair if I was driving through and saw this I would probably get out of the car too. Or at least reach through the window and playfully boop them on their cute little noses. https://youtu.be/0tmCIsSpvC8 (I’d be rushed to the emergency room with chewed-up fingers screaming “AAHHHGH! I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IF I HAD THE CHANCE!”)

I had an ex who was involved in some big cat zookeeper stuff and the Cheetahs were the least scary, allegedly. They had a leopard that stalked people a lot and couldn't be trusted at all.

Cheetahs have claws like dogs that can't retract so they are quite blunt. Won't draw too much blood. E: semi-retractable actually. Sininu fucked around with this message at 23:21 on May 11, 2018 |

Cheetahs are pretty chill and more like dogs than anything.

I remember hearing something about them being timid and flighty because any injury sutained in the wild from being agressive to random poo poo would result in them starving as they couldn't chase things. No idea how true that is.

No idea how true that is. Makes sense, a cheetah that thinks picking a fight with a rhino, elephant or even say a giraffe is a good idea isn’t going to be very successful from an evolutionary standpoint. There’s a lot of stuff bigger than them in their natural habitat.

One last big cat derail, if you learn to make this chuffing noise you can make friends with tigers in zoos if they hear you. They'll often come to investigate you, sometimes do it back and sometimes will chill out near you. OSHA: Do do not do this to wild tigers. Get back in the car.

The cheetahs see the dogs being chill around humans, and that reduces stress when the handlers need to interact with them. OSHA: Don't try to put your precious fluffy in close proximity to cheetahs. The dog buddies are typically the same size as the cheetahs, and grow up with them. Azathoth Prime fucked around with this message at 01:07 on May 12, 2018 |

The San Diego zoo brings out their cheetahs and their doggo buddies/childhood friends to play in the pen a couple times per day, or at least they did when I was down there in 2015. It's one of the most "awwww" things I've ever seen. Meanwhile the rhino doing it's charge to match the cheetahs like 30 feet away (their enclosures share a path) is one of the most "oh gently caress no" things ever. e: withak posted:Also, we are now accepting nominations for subdivision built in stupider locations than Leilani Estates. I was driving next to a car carrier on I95 this week that set off the overheight vehicle sensor and was being flashed yellow to exit. I gunned it to get ahead of him and watched my rearview to see if he'd hit the bridge, but he didn't.
