I remember wanting to watch the premier just to punished myself. Maybe it was so terrible that it gave me brain damage.

They mentioned the wife's death because Kevin forgot to cancel one of her subscriptions. And then it was on to sitcom shenanigans, the daughter's wedding I think?

How much longer is Criminal Minds gonna go on for now that most of the original cast is gone?

They're at how many seasons now, 15?

I binged the first 10 or so a few years back and they'd already had a major plot arc for each of the individual team members being targeted and multiple arcs about the whole team being targeted. Where else can they go? Is it one of those shows that old people will continue to watch despite it exhausting every interesting story possibility already?

I watch it every now and then because it's hilarious schlock. Though nothing can top the episode from a couple years ago where Kevin from the Office kills people because he believes he is descended from King Minos of Crete, the latest season ended with the team realizing that a CULT OF SERIAL KILLERS has infiltrated and taken over part of the FBI, and has kidnapped one of their team members. This show is amazingly bad and often insane.

Was the "only live ratings matter" thing mentioned anywhere before the cancellation? Because I know at least three households that would have watched live if we'd known. This being the 21st century I thought dvr was good enough.

Live ratings always matter the most, even for places that care about DVR numbers.

DO YOU HEAR THAT? THAT'S THE SOUND OF ME PATTING MYSELF ON THE BACK.

The Expanse is absolutely hosed about distribution rights. Live is Syfy, international was Netflix, and US streaming is Amazon. With Syfy out of the picture, neither Netflix or Amazon would want to fund a show they didn't have global rights to.

Alcon really deserves a ton of "WTF were you thinking here?" about the way they sold those rights. It never had a chance.

I think live is valued most, followed by services like Hulu, On Demand, or the individual channel streaming apps because those still generate ad revenue.

It really depends on the individual show's financial setup.

NBC let Hannibal run as long as it did, for example, even allowing Fuller to indulge himself quite a bit more than anyone expected, because they paid a tiny-rear end licensing fee to Sony; all the financing came from Gaumont (and for the later seasons, Amazon, which paid for a bunch of the show by forking out a poo poo-ton for the streaming rights).

I think my favorite one will always be the one where Frankie Muniz (of Malcolm in the Middle fame) is a comic book artist who just happens to have a bunch of people turn up dead around him, and then it turns out that he had been taking on the persona of the comic book character he created and killing people without even knowing it until the very end.

Or the one where they tried to make Jason Alexander into a villain who looks like J Mascis.

Or the one where James Van Der Beek from Dawson's Creek plays a cult leader.

Man, that show is so very, very stupid, but at least it's gone some fun places with it in the past.

The Orville was their top-performing new show last year and Seth MacFarlane is their golden boy; that series is safe for a while.

Holy poo poo - anyone else watch this Evil Genius show on Netflix about the BATSHIT INSANE AND loving TERRIFYING woman who was sorta kinda at the center of the whole "Pizza Bomber" thing, which I think is the only time in reality that a collar-bomb ever actually went off and actually (well, ultimately and more or less) wound up with the decapitation of the victim.

It's a great documentary - it's only about ~3 hours long, split into 4 parts. It's tough not to "binge" because it fairly succinctly tells a fascinating story with plenty of twists and turns.

But like with most things, the real life story surrounding that incredibly bizarre event is... so much stranger that it is truly difficult to wrap one's head around. Also, Marjorie Diehl might be the most terrifying individual that I am *so glad* I've never met.

Like, watching this series I didn't feel SAFE from her in a weird way.

I recently came to learn that Logan Paul was in the infamous "GAMERGATE and Order:SVU" episode. This really is the era of the youtube star.

Logan Paul was dating Chloe Bennet for a minute. I only know who Logan Paul is because one of my friends kept saying how one of our other friends looked like him. And then Paul like, licked a dead body or something.

Anna Akana is a YouTuber who has started popping up in stuff. She's quite amusing.

Make no mistake, it's a procedural so it's gone on way too long, but the way it dealt with the character stuff, as well as the lore of Holmes, was always way ahead of whatever SHERLOCK was doing.
