I don't know how anyone can claim any of the New Left groups of the 1960s and 70s were successful at all. Inspiring, maybe, but none of them achieved any lasting accomplishments. It's a political dead end. 1968 was fifty years ago; it's time to turn the page.

Every single New Left movement failed, there's not a lot to learn. But I'm glad to see that I was on the money, that all this poo poo is just repressed frustrations without awareness. The problem was with the New Left itself, that's where the flaw is.

When those parties were destroyed or otherwise neutralized and the possibility of revolution was totally suppressed, white America no longer saw the need to make concessions to black America as a survival tactic, and was able to begin the process of undoing the gains made by the civil rights movement almost immediately.

when an old prof died at the lab I used to work at they let people loot his room for whatever books they wanted and among all the old physics and chemistry books i found an old worn-out copy of revolution for the hell of it by abbie hoffman it seemed theoretically and practically dubious but was a fun piece of history to happen upon and is still on my shelf. that's my yippee story.
