Not to worry, there are vanishingly few quests that have low drop rates (i.e. worse than 1 drop per 1 kill) anymore--the devs seem to have realized they were a bad mistake.

The Anniversary Festival will return from 6/7-6/18, so no worries if you missed the deadline tonight. You'll have to restart any in-progress quests from scratch, though.

How do you filter out the screaming? I ask because dwarfs make that stupid WOOAAAHHHH shout over and over again which is why I rarely play them.

I got bagpipes on my dwarf minstrel for maximum "fun".

As annoying as skirmishes are, I've been successfully using them to level myself up to an appropriate level for Mordor. I did it for Moria too and the important thing is to not fool around with tiers or anything- just run them through and get the big chunk of xp at the end.

Skirmishes are also useful for a couple other things- you get some low-mid level LI relics and you can use them to complete deeds in the region the skirmish occurs, plus a decent amount of silver. And as I've mentioned before, you can use skirmish marks to buy reputation items for some factions which is ideal to get their travel skills and/or for the TP rewards

Alt-R, then record while screaming and drag the sound that is labelled player_shout or player_scream or something (it's pretty obvious) to the filter list. Will take a few times since there's 4 or 5 screams.

My favorite memory of this game is back when a friend and I downloaded music sheets for the two halves of Dueling Banjos, then took out lutes and played them while standing on a bench in the Bree auction house.

Makes me wish those jerks would get over their Overwatch addiction and play again :(

Hey, it was my default horse for my hunter until I got the one for World Renowned, so can't fault you there. The flets fortunately you don't actually need to screw with too many of them, though it took some careful research to figure out how to get the Flet-Runner title deed done.

My hobbit mini leaves me in stitches yelling, so doubt I'll ever filter her. I have decided to start definitely making instrument decisions based on "how annoying is this to listen to all day" rather than stats though. Lute was actually kind of cool at the very start, and I liked what I've heard from other minis with fiddles, but lately I'd been stuck with drums (which make me think I should be spouting beatnik poetry in between ballad casts) and flute (where the repeated bits feels like I'm in a 70s kung fu flick soundtrack without any of the cool martial arts). Some of the other instruments seem even more... disturbing as something to hear all the time. If I had to equip bagpipes I'd probably prefer sticking to using my club all the time and dying frequently rather than dying on the inside every time I play the thing.

That one on the other hand I could do without. Does filtering particular screams just make them silent, or does it remove them from the rotation? I rather like the dwarf screaming "Baruk Khazad!" but would love to skip that one.

Thanks to Sushi for posting the link to discord, some surprising changes. We're going deeper into the dwarf lands than we thought and unless they back out of this idea the update will be raising the level cap to 120. Great news for casuals, gonna be a lot of maxed out raiders and such really pissed about a new gear grind. The content itself though, and the story is really exciting.

Not sure when it's planned for, there are summer instances and I'm not sure if they'd do the next update at the same time of the summer instances and class balances, so maybe late summer is the goal, early fall?

Also the day one forum theory on Minas Morgul being pushed to 2019 and becoming an 'expanded version' of the original plan is that it'll not just have the Shelob raid, but maybe be an expansion pack.

Raising the level cap should make Mordor considerably easier. (and you'll probably still be able to hit lvl 120 in Gondor easily)

So, got to the twist in Dunland finally, kinda neat but I get to walk around Isengard with my bow still? Boy, just like Army of Darkness; start out with "I am a slave", go to "This is my BOOMSTICK!" pronto. Also died laughing that the orc who's supposed to be escorting me around has some serious pathfinding issues keeping up with hunter speed, and when one of the surly orcs aggroed on me he immediately ran over and killed my overseer first. Wonder if there's a shiv cosmetic I can apply to my burglar's daggers when he gets this far... Also I really hope I get to kill the Falcon clan or at least their chief; gotta give the game credit that it felt like I got captured not because I couldn't fight but because it would have gotten the Grey Company/Ranger with me killed though. Also, the Dunlendings appear to be either complete assholes or they get wiped out; I suspect Rohan had to beat them down again in the Fourth Age because all the nice sane ones keep getting murdered there. Too bad my Dragon Clan casualties don't seem to affect things or I'd be keeping the jerk/nice Dunlending population counts more even.

The Spring Festival is back for the next 10 days, make sure to at least grab 20 tokens for the Steed of the Moon Moth (the 2017 spring mount) since it'll only be available for mithril after the festival ends. As always, doing Inn League/Ale Association is the fastest way to grind tokens; 30 tokens per set of 10 delivery quests and you can do the sets for both factions each day (plus more if you do the rest of their dailies). There's an extremely useful guide here on the most efficient way to do the deliveries.

If you only do solo content festivals are also by far the easiest way to get a hold of Star-Lit Crystals if you need them for your imbued legendaries.

I get nostalgic for this game sometimes, but my Captain is still languishing somewhere in Rohan and I just....don't want to play him anymore. The area is godawful, mounted combat loving sucks and the slow pace of Captain levelling finally broke me a few years back.

Some of the new content sounds rad though. Maybe I should just start over...it would mean I'd get to go through Moria again and that entire area was loving brilliant.

What's class balance like these days re: fast solo leveling?

Hunter or Minstrel currently one-shot all landscape mobs for at least your first several dozen levels (I've heard people say blue-line hunter does this through the 80s, but it's probably about to get nerfed). Hunter and Warden get lots of fast-travel skills. Burglar can stealth and run past mobs without having to fight them. Guardian likes to pull like 6 mobs at once and is probably fastest for clearing camps.

They really need to even out DPS for quests and landscape crap and differentiate it for raids. Captain redline is super squishy and yellow line is indestructible but coma-inducing. Meanwhile, my minstrel sings at enemies and they die quickly.

Here's something interesting- when leveling from 105 to 106, with a bit of Mordor 300-ish gear, I was completing runs in minutes- the mobs had super low health comparatively. I was completing some of the offensive ones in about 5 minutes, at about 110k experience per run.

Going from 106-107, I chose a skirmish to finish out the level and the mobs had about double health compared to 105.

Moral of the story, it might be super efficient to do level 105 runs through the mid-high 100s, possibly even moreso than questing. I suspect instances would work similarly.

I quit playing lotro like 10 years ago, but it was my first serious mmo. I fondly remember raiding Rift and Helegrod on my 50 champion.

Decided to get back into it, but don't know my account info so I guess I'm starting over, just can't decide between captain or warden, or maybe even minstrel. Once I decide I guess I'll hop into discord and ask for a invite to the kin

It amazes me how much the games changed since last time I played (before Moria, hell I remember I was still leveling my character when Forochel released). I don't think trait lines were even a thing back then.

I enjoy most of the classes, but of those three I find warden the most interesting because of the melee vs. ranged choices and the use of gambits. I only use a small selection of gambits but it keeps me busy.

jalapeno_dude

Minstrel will definitely kill things the fastest, especially at low levels when you can literally one-shot every mob in a camp without slowing down. Warden is the most complex class of those three by far but properly played is indestructible even soloing fellowship content on-level, and gets some fast-travel skills. Captain is pretty fun IMO but frankly is not in a very competitive place right now either in terms of damage or survivability; if you only do solo content it doesn't matter, of course, since you can just do enough quests to outlevel things and by the time you fix max level it will hopefully be in a better place.

Captain is always needed in endgame, but getting there is a bear. They're currently working on a class balance patch, so it's possible that they will get a little better, but they've always pointed to their utility as a reason not to let them do competitive DPS.

Yeah, they need to get rid of heralds. 50% of the time they're getting killed and need to be resurrected mid-battle and the other 50% of the time they're pathing incorrectly and dragging 15 mobs after you.

TBH captain should be like necromancer in Diablo 2- abilities to just summon and buff a fuckton of soldiers to kill your enemies. On the other hand I can only imagine how many more client crashes I'd get if they actually did that.
