Hey there, overworked day job buddy.

On at least four different occasions from May 2007 to December 2008, I worked 14 to 16 hour shifts at my day job for several weird periods.

First one was after returning from my first trip to Tokyo, where I had to basically stay at a fancy hotel in downtown Monterrey working for 2 weeks straight during which my mom brought me clothing three times. All my slaving away coding proved for almost naught because the HR/Recruitment guy ended up banging the rep lady from the company, who ended up confirming that we got the account. .
During a whole "business" week, I basically had to sleep under my desk because compiling took FOREVER, but when it finished compiling we had to IMMEDIATELY DOCUMENT EVERYTHING IN AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE. I showered once during that whole period.
On what was to be my last month assigned to that project, we spent the first week going over details of the final version before RTM. Thankfully, the testing team leader lived 2 miles away by that point, so we could take daily showers at her place.
Unfortunately, during my last 10 days on the project, we had to scrap like 6 months of work and basically all-nighter the gently caress out of everything. I actually had to time my bathroom breaks and get new prescription glasses due to the eye-strain I suffered thanks to that. By that point I think we were getting billed a different fee from the other projects. Also, the coding team leader threatened to kick the shin of "that one shrill San Diego rear end in a top hat" really hard.

After getting laid off that job, I have never stayed at any other day job for overtime. I once stayed up for a recording session for 37 hours straight, but that was mostly because it was fun and kinda weird, I think by the end of that session I believed myself to be Devin Townsend.

Yeah I don't have anything that bad, but I also work for a large corporation so while expectations are that you'll be always available and turn things around quickly, it's not quite so make or break as smaller contract companies.
