The Liberals are the party of big business. Big business doesn't really care about your sexuality or your gender or your race, but hoo boy does it ever care about low taxes and privatization and corruption. If your primary concerns are social and cultural, the Liberals appear left-wing because they do things like promote trans equality and sex ed. If your primary concerns are economic, the Liberals appear right-wing because they ruthlessly cut the size of the state. They're the perfect party for the dumbass centrist "fiscally conservative but socially liberal" Canadian, except they're so corrupt that most of the time they can't even get the fiscally conservative part right because they're so dedicated to selling profitable public assets at a loss to their friends on Bay Street.
