I watched someone play through some of Detroit earlier. And just from watching that, the game was made for the phrase "that's a little bit on the nose"

Like Detroit does nothing new gameplay wise. It’s the same QTEs going back to Fahrenheit/Indigo Peehole. There’s no new real twist on it.

Quantic dreams main goal is like tech development thats why their games are beautiful minimally interactive narrative things with the added trainwreck spice of a tommy wissou wannabe boss. They are drat good at asset creation, mo cap, materials rendering, etc. mr. alexis alexander navarro was saying today that he surmises they have such a long leash from sony because they are lifting up all the other studios with their r&d

I'm not trying to diss them I just think why bother. Their games aren't leaning into an animated aesthetic, they're chasing pure realism to the point where they should just save $150 million and build a couple sets and costumes

finished Detroit. liked it all the way through, not much was hamfisted imo. got pretty much the worst endings possible without trying to and thus got pretty sad about my game choices which is cool. i even missed out on like hours of content because i hosed up once so replaying it is super high priority, in fact i immediately started a new game. i'd say it's at least worth a rental and you could probably even 100% it in 2 days if you played it nonstop.
