Ah there's plenty of corned beef eaten in Ireland, you can even get it rolled in dirt for special occasions.

It's more that the 'corned beef and cabbage' thing for St. Patrick's Day is an Irish-American thing, not an Irish-Irish thing. The local equivalent is biled baacon, a few flowry schpuds and a bitta cabbidge.

Yeah, the tradition goes back to when the Irish immigrant population was still treated as second class poors stuck in a ghetto. Turns out their Jewish neighbors had this corning/pickling method to prepare the cheap hunks of meat they could get into halfway flavorful meals that just so happened to go well with the Irish vegetables of cabbage and potatoes. And so, one of the earliest forms of American fusion cooking was born.

Same thing with Irish Americans and corned beef.

No one in Ireland eats corned beef. You'd have a very hard time finding it in a shop over here.

I eat corned beef here all the time - I get it from dunnes no problem, canned or at the meat counter. But it's a tradition that goes back to my English side way more than my Irish side of the family. It's very much a sandwich food here and trying to find a good corned beef hash is a fools errand.

Hi there.
When I was in America I had no problem finding actual mozzarella in the Supermarket but it was for some reason six times as expensive as in Germany, where mozzarella is the cheapest cheese you can buy (which makes sense since it’s the quickest to make).

As would the bourbon industry, and subsequently the European whisky industry would take a hit.

E: Okay maybe not that bad for whisky, but bourbon barrel-aged whisky is the poo poo, is what I'm saying.

People used to wipe with corncobs before the Sears catalog took it's place. Hence your "corn hole."

Because the object of the game is to toss little bags of corn into a hole. Where's the confusion?
