He's not a puppy any more, but here's Xander, going for a ride. (He doesn't know it's to the vet, don't tell him) And here he is keeping his sister warm. Or vice-versa.

Yes, he is a very Good Boy, except for when he "helps" cleaning up chicken poop from the back yard. Gives him horrendous farts. But he is very empathetic - here's his reaction when my wife gets mad at her laptop acting up: "It's OK, see? I'm smiling!"

The real problem would be dynamic forces, though. A cat jumping onto the shelf is going to impart a much higher force than the static load of the cat just sitting there. We may be able to estimate the load by timing how long it takes them to absorb the shock of landing on the shelf. I'm going to need you to post some video of your cats jumping on your shelves. This is a dog I used to watch when her owner was out of town. Her name is Philly and I love her. We know she's part beagle, but have no idea on the rest. The first time I met her Pouting because my much older dog was tuckered out and she still had energy to spare A slightly older, but much chiller Philly

Aren't beagles and other scent hounds specifically bred for long floppy ears in the (mistaken?) belief that they help to waft scents up to the nose?

I'm pretty sure this was posted before, but I don't care. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBBwXAPNLr0 I Foster for a rescue where I live. They pull dogs from kill shelters around Atlanta and send them north to the Hudson Valley. A really great group that I'm proud to work with, but because of my feisty terrier-chi mix I try to only take small dogs. Well one week they were desperate for one more foster house for a Beagle and he had application for adoption already so I volunteered. He got adopted at pick up, but because of a paperwork error there was another Beagle that need a place to stay. So I figure..what the hell, and take Betsey home. She was so wonderful and she sounded just like that video. So now we take beagles if there are any that need foster homes. Had another one over Christmas named Snoopy that looked like a beagle basset mix. droopy ears, eyes and muzzle. Painfully sweet. We went to an adoption event and he picked out his very own boy. I about burst into tears. They adopted him on the spot.

They had a couple friends over and one was "beating up on me" so Aubrey ran over and shoved him off me, then loudly said "NO I LOVE HIM". It was very cute.

Visited my dad last night. Their dog has some sort of crush on me and he loses his mind every time I'm over. I feel special and also cannot explain it. But he makes some dumb faces while he's trying to ingratiate himself with me:

Lava Lamp Goddess posted:My wrinkly booger is five weeks old! Yay more sphynxes! We need numbers to resist the tyranny of Butterscotch We got insanely lucky, we decided to adopt one and applied to get on a waiting list, fully expecting to be waiting a year. Someone bailed on their deposit on the current litter and she liked our application enough to offer us the kitten (I was a vet tech for years, she studies cat behavior....or maybe we just had the cash ready to go). All in all we waited a week and a half between applying and driving to the airport to pick her up.
