Subjunctive posted:FWIW, no, that is not my position which is why I didn’t say it. You, in your first post in this chain, made a strong claim about the effects of voting on centralization of power in the elite. I asked about that specific claim. You asked me to read back the minutes of your post history, rather than respond to my specific claim. Moron. Or how every time we get an even somewhat left party elected, all of the powerful forces in our economy and the media conspire endlessly to bring it down, making something like Rae days into a curse word while ignoring all of the terrible effects of privatisation of productive assets for short-term gain, or under-funding valuable social services. Once again, I've made my overall position quite clear, I even have it my name. I'd like you to outline what your beliefs are, how we as a country of nations can continue to develop and provide for our citizens, and then we can debate with all the facts on the table. As it is, your arguments have little weight behind them. Thank for the correction about "whose" I'll correct that, as it was looking weird to me. But as the other poster pointed out, pointing out a spelling error hardly disqualifies an entire argument, or the person who posted it. However, saying that you're not going to read part of an argument you seem eager to get involved with because it's too long or complicated is a pretty moron-move, so I still stand behind that statement.

The NDP has its own case of brain worms: “We have no chance anyway, what’s the point” “We’re looking pretty good but vote splitting will definitely gently caress us, what’s the point” “We’re in the lead but it’s still two weeks out, that’s called peaking too early” “We’re up 9 points so we’ll win anyway, no point in me voting” “Andrea Horwath has not promised to guillotine every small business owner, what’s the point”

If you are not at all inclined to participate in politics or even social progress whatsoever, voting is basically the least you can contribute. But if you are there's way more stuff to do than voting, but you should never not vote if you can.

If you honestly think a Democratic presidency would be similar to what's going on right now in the US under Trump, you are insane and should seek mental help. Yes, it may not be perfect; yes it may still be too far right on the political spectrum, but that doesn't mean it's not a lot better than Trump and Pruitt and DeVos and Jeff loving Sessions, and Gorsuch, etc., etc. You're a complete loving idiot if you don't see and understand that.

I like his seemingly genuine belief that gas stations aren't just going to pocket the 10c/L, or private daycare isn't going to suddenly raise prices to match the free money coming from the government.

Mr. Apollo posted:Ive tried pointing out to people exactly that. People are used to paying the current gas price so the extra $0.10 will just go to the station’s profit. But of course they say “well then people will just boycott those stations and go to the ones that are passing along the savings. THE FREE MARKET IN ACTION.” I truly believe that businesses will leave millions of dollars on the table for no reason

I found Horwath so-so most of the time because she would sidetrack at the beginning of questions. Maybe it's pressure. It's easy for me to say from my couch. She fared better with audience questions. For instance: "we paid $20,000 last year for childcare for our son, what is your plan?" Horwath: $2600/year childcare Ford: I'll give you $6,000 Wynne: NDP bad Seriously though, Ford is so full of poo poo.
