Dear internet space ghost wandering cuntiflas,

There has been maybe one refund since January.

Currently what they do is tell you you are in queue and you are just waiting on the refund specialist to take a look at your case, which he never does because he doesn't exist.

Of course because they haven't said that they aren't doing refunds and because what cig says is more important than what they actually do the cultists think everything is fine.

Wow, he actually claimed that they *had* this running? To me that's actually significantly more damning than any broken promises, missed deadlines or unrealistic design ranting. It is of course wrong to mislead consumers about the future prospects of a product, but knowingly making a false claim about the current state of the product is entering fraud territory.

I have changed slowly over time, but, in no particular order, they claimed to have completely working;

1) Flight model
2) Squadron 42 missions
3) Networking, no we haven't, yes we have, no, we haven't. 1600 people in an instance, remember
4) Doors.
5) Gas mixtures. That was a funny claim in the face of 4) occasionally wandering off.
6) Agent AI; this is the NPCs that give 'depth'

The first claim that Crobblers made, that the game was effectively finished and the flight model was working was neatly bookended by the time he sat down to play in front of everyone and the thing crashed.

A lot of dreams died that day.

I'm not sure how popular Angry Joe is these days

Funny Story about Angry Joe; he previewed Sword of the Stars II just before it's contentious release to say how awesome it was, and that they'd really managed to pull something off that extended the original game.

Suffice to say that if you weren't aware of the drama surrounding the release, Kerberos:

1) Released on a Friday, but the game was entirely broken. "We uploaded an old Beta", they claimed.
2) Updated on Monday, but it was equally as broken. Paradox promised to get to the bottom of things.
3) Kerberos released a mea culpa stating that they'd been forced to release the game early by Paradox, and they would 'pinkie swear' to complete the game
4) Paradox pointed out that they'd missed two deadlines and offered to honor any refund requests.
5) Kerberos then poo poo out the DLC they had planned after some half-hearted attempts to patch the game up, although it was missing entire mechanics.

They abandoned it after a time and shat out 'The Pit' after Paradox wiped their hands of Kerberos. They've been attempting to leverage the 'lore' of 'Sword of the Stars' into a bunch of different little games, but they've never recovered. The AI in the game itself will usually bankrupt itself fairly early, so it's still entirely broken.

Mecron (The notorious CEO of Kerberos) managed a bit of humility for a short while, but that soon dissipated.

What I'm saying is that Angry Joe is just as much as a shill as everyone else, and in this case he was a Ben Lesnick.

Interestingly, when you take a look at Kerberos, there's a really solid core, and everyone else. Lore and personality seem to go hand in hand.

Just lol.

Its real sad that TB passed so young. Nobody deserves that. He was a decent guy.

That said, he had a real problem with authority. He loved that his job got him fame and access to talk to developers directly, and so ate up whatever BS they sold him without any critical thinking whatsoever. He had lots of "the devs told me X and they wouldn't lie!" Moments.

Remember simcity? How EA made it always online and said it was like a sim city mmo? TB was like "the devs told me the game uses other players data, there is NO way it could work offline!" Except we'd already analyzed the network traffic and proved that was total horseshit, but he denied and blocked anybody who said otherwise. The devs wouldn't lie!!!

Then like 5 days later EA put out a huge "oops, we lied" blog post after somebody had patched the game to work offline just fine.

And of course TB said nothing then, he'd moved on to other games you see.

So he'd definitely be the sort to get hyped on CIG's fever dream of lies.

Its more like a sim. It looks fantastic and creates a believable space world where you can fly around and has more direct control than eve.

But also like eve there's basically zero pve content so its up to the players to figure out what to do, but not enough mechanics to encourage that or make it very interesting.

So as others have said, its impressive but... not really fun.

Imagine EVE but you can actually pilot your ship and do barrel rolls. But also also there are no corps or player owned space like eve so nothing matters, even less so than in eve's nihilistic universe.

It is a middling space trader sim with a lot of disguised loading screens. If you like flying space ships in VR and you like playing boring truck sims, it is basically the best sim ever made. But it's a terrible game.
