Asia’s evil makeup was so cool and I loved letting the balloon fly away when she entered. Such a simple little touch for the character but it shows some wit. I wish she had won. Ru comparing Aquaria to 3 past winners bodes very, very well for her going into the finale I imagine. I honestly can’t imagine anyone else winning after this episode (though the winners have been all over the place the past few seasons so who knows).

gandlethorpe posted:I'm okay with Kameron staying, since she completely ignored Lena during Untucked. lmao that was so good. Kameron is kind of amazing, I wish she would break way from her ~inner sabotoir~ because when girl hits that stage she comes alive, and her looks are tight as hell. I really liked both of her looks this week, but I agree there could have been more-- though I think calling them costume-y was a bit weird. All of her looks have been pretty costume-y/cosplay, just these two didn't have as much care put into them as the others. Though the makeup and headpiece on her evil twin look was a fuckin toot for me. That first look tho was giving me some Jaina Proudmoore realness and I lived for it for that reason alone tbh. Noise Machine posted:Why the gently caress couldn't it have been Ashanti that went backstage x10000 I loved the legit insane excitement from the girls when Ru said Ashanti would be judging this week compared to their reactions for Dunham.

The one thing I appreciated was seeing that she has blue hair now because she fits all of the blue-haired girl stereotypes. Honestly, after she wrote the stuff about her sister I don't understand how anybody likes her.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm in complete agreement and actually stopped myself from going on a rant about why she's terrible so thanks for sparing me most of the effort. I'll also point out that Girls was a lovely show, Tiny Furniture was a lovely movie, and Lena can't write her way out of a paper bag. The fact that she's mostly talentless and a child of privilege just adds to the resentment.

The great thing about Lena Dunham is the many justified reasons to hate her tbh. Like you don't have to reach at all to come up w/ one. She's trash. I liked Girls' first couple seasons tho ngl. She at least seemed to understand she was trash for a while there.

If you cannot handle a difficult dog, the responsible thing to do is to find someone who can. Which she did.

The shelter she adopted from said the dog was completely fine and had no issues, both before and after the adoption, so it's still a possibility she was bullshitting. Knowing the spoilers about Miz Cracker and watching Drag Race over the past few weeks made it really stand out. Every time Ru visits Cracker in the workroom in the last few weeks she's being civil but wants to GTFO. You see how different Ru is when talking to Aquaria or Asia. Then you see Fashion Photo Ruview and Raven has been on set and she gives abrasive critiques. 'Oh she turned up and did the assignment.' As for Cracker's outfits this week? Oh yeah she deserved the Bottom 2 position. But the boot? Mmmmm.... no.

# ? Jun 9, 2018 01:17 |

eh. They both have one win, and while Kameron had been in the bottom twice already, Kameron has at least exceeded expectations in most challenges, while Cracker has fallen short of expectations in the eyes of the judges and a lot of the audience. Ru was clearly over her during deliberations. Kameron turned out her lip sync while Cracker couldn't seem to decide if she wanted to go comedy or sexy, it was a good first half or so of the song then she kinda floundered while Kameron kept upping the energy. Booting Cracker was the right decision imo.

I'm going to be fine if I don't see another drop split for a really long time. It feels like it has been terribly overused this season to punctuate some very mediocre wedding dancing. Yes, I am still bitter about last night, why do you ask... edited to be less bitchy Apropos of nothing, it is unfortunate to check out Max's twitter and see her having a rough go. She was weird and odd, even on an entire season of weird and odd, but I liked her and hoped she would have gone on to bigger and better things. https://twitter.com/MAXcollective/status/1004845769793441792 graynull fucked around with this message at 03:07 on Jun 9, 2018 |

See, I'm fine with girls doing splits or death drops. I'm just tired of the judges and a large chunk of the fandom acting like they're still special, and not something that's just become an expected part of most lip syncs since like season 4. e: like unless you're pulling an aja or a kennedy and jumping off something into an insane split/drop it shouldn't be a gag tho when girls both split at the same time i still love it ngl

They probably just told them "ok now react as if we said something good. now react as if we said something bad. now react to your evil twin doing something mean to you, now act like you're over it" same goes for the judging at the end "pretend you won, pretend youre in the bottom, pretend youre low safe" then had them switch drag while the judges sat around and talked about how best to make inane decisions during judging. gandlethorpe posted:r/shittyfoodporn is a thing, and looking at some of the poo poo there has definitely made me gag (not in the good way). I imagine it's much more disgusting actually seeing and smelling it. It's pre-prepared food meant for use onstage, and not for actual eating. From WoW. Chances are that poo poo had been sitting there since the night before, minimum. No refrigeration. I recall an anecdote from the Penny Arcade reality show they did, where (for those who don't know) they had an elimination format which involved the bottom two drawing random words from a wastebasket and making a comic about them in 90 minutes. They would then destroy the loser's comic somehow, in increasingly ridiculous fashions. Tearing it in half, cutting a sad face out of it with scissors, they put one in a loving wood chipper. One of them was used as a napkin for some ribs. Ribs which had been purchased from the freezer section that morning and were still partially frozen, sitting under studio lights for like 6 hours. Which Mike had to eat, messily and pretend to enjoy. So yeah, stage food nasty.

curiousTerminal posted:Speaking of not being low key about being exploitative, how about this "pull your deepest insecurities out for us so we can televise it" challenge With Bourdain dying today I'm starting to genuinely think human nature makes the ethical production of reality TV impossible. It goes beyond the usual "ethical consumption under capitalism" because producers have time and again been shown to be directly and deliberately destructive to the people they're filming. If you watch the BTS eps for his CNN show you can see his producers drinking with him and encouraging him to get blackout drunk constantly knowing full well he's a recovering addict with serious dark places to his mind. Then you have the whole Bachelor Island thing that went down last year, The Real World getting closer and closer to date rape porn at the behest of activist producers, and RPDR taking advantage of the difficult economics drag performers face to keep them roped into a low budget hyper demanding production. At some point a producer on a reality show is going to goad on a murder and there'll be congressional hearings and poo poo. I'm betting someone on Catfish murders their catfisher personally.

She had a secret admirers episode, and a supposedly straight guy, Jonathan Schmitz, was brought on stage to meet his secret admirer. It turned out to be another man, Scott Amedure. It was pretty tame, if not completely awkward, because if you remember, it was still not cool at all to be gay in the 90s. At the later trial it came out that the two men did indeed hookup after the taping; but, when Scott left a suggestive note at Jonathan's home, Jonathan murdered Scott with a shotgun. Scott's family eventually sued the Jenny Jones show over the negligent role that they had in his death. They were rewarded with $25 million, and the show continued for another 4 years.

Also, the "evil twins" being asked the who should go home question was an excellent way to get them to answer that question in a way that didn't feel gross. I loved seeing them be given carte blanche to just say the poo poo instead of pageant tears. I would be fine with this inner sabotwá challenge being a fixture in the late season, even though this specific episode kind of sucked. I think you could even do without the "good" side and let them go ham on the darksided stuff I'm going to have to see this finale tea.
