There actually is surviving Roman writing where they do this, it's pretty interesting. Tacitus immediately comes to mind as one writing abut how terrible Romans are. But it's not couched in terms of racism since that's a modern concept that didn't exist at the time. Romans had plenty of ways to be judgy pricks, but what we would consider race wasn't one of them.
