At 1:09 he knocks over what looks like a streetlamp, which hit the wires nearby. If you watch at 1:10 you can see them spark. Easy to miss with all the other excitement.

I regret to inform everyone that my husband, Space Jim, passed away at work today. He was chugging a beer while walking and accidentally fell into an industrial meat grinder. He loved this thread and lived an OSHA lifestyle in every way. We will be hosting a rememberence ceremony tomorrow with free hamburgers and miller lite. I want to thank everyone here who inspired him with tales of extraordinary safety. R.I.P.

The street light circuit is the same type of wiring that feeds houses normally, i.e. it's 3 strands with 2 of them insulated. No doubt the pole getting knocked down causing that big arc left them in a short circuit condition, and for some reason no breaker tripped so eventually the wire got hot enough to light the insulation on fire.

There are so many questions here, and relatively few of them relate to the wisdom of experimenting with a soda can in a fire indoors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSjEr88MvZA for video with sound. I've been spying on a Facebook group of roofing company owners for work, kinda get a lay of the land and take notes on how to market them. The overwhelming response when someone posted this in the group was along the lines of "whatever it takes to get the job done!" On a related note, they also spend a lot of time bitching about how they can't find non-felons with clean drug tests for their jobs. I wonder why PostNouveau fucked around with this message at 20:50 on Jun 15, 2018 |

That looks amazingly satisfying. Maybe even safer for the guy doing the felling? Even if it's far worse for anyone innocently walking past the other end.

PostNouveau posted:On a related note, they also spend a lot of time bitching about how they can't find non-felons with clean drug tests for their jobs. I wonder why I'd been hearing lots of radio ads for a factory in my area, hiring machine operators. The pay and benefits they advertised weren't bad and my temp job was coming to an end, so I was thinking about it, when I happened to meet a guy who already worked there. He told me the reason they were advertising so heavily was they'd had a job fair at the plant and got ~30 applicants who looked good, until every one of them failed the drug test (a hair test). He further told me that while the health insurance was indeed quite good, the plant was a terrible place to work because they ran two 12-hour shifts which rotated day/night by week. So you'd work 6AM to 6PM one week and 6PM to 6AM the next week, then repeat. I don't even
