Hot Take: True Detective season 2 was Good. Season 1 was also Good but I hated the dumb voodoo poo poo.

Season 2 of True Detective would have been just fine if there hadn't been such an amazing Season 1.

This is more like Season 3-4 of Lost, where there were still neat ideas but the writing and pacing was getting sloppier.

SHINee's back

Season 2 of TD's biggest issue was the director not staying on, and not finding someone to do the whole of season 2. The tone was all over the place and while the writing wasn't as good as 1, it was servicable as a noir story and I enjoyed p much all of the cast. Even Vince Vaughan was worth it for the memes.

I think the finale is going to be really really good and I’m going to be upset with how uneven this season was.

Was anyone else thrown off by Ford's whole "You are my favorite child" thing to Maeve last week? Feels a bit odd, I don't think we've ever seen those two interact much.

It felt genuine to me. I mean he did write a whole story for her that was supposed to lead to her getting free of the park before it descended into chaos.

Hm, that's true. I guess it just didn't connect with me because we never saw them interact. Good point though.

To be fair the only hosts we really saw Ford interact with were Bernard, babby Ford, and Akecheta. When he was talking to Teddy he was just uploading the Wyatt narrative or really just talking to William. He was there with Abernathy and Clem but that wasn’t really interacting as much as troubleshooting. He seemed to genuinely like being around baby Ford.

Yeah, it doesn't help that other than Bernard all of his scenes talking to hosts in S1 were mostly him being a dick, too. Like hammering home to Teddy his purpose is to get murdered over and over while other people get his girl, his obvious disdain for Dolores' murder of his best friend, etc. But I think they did enough legwork in the background of S1 and 2 for me to see him as caring for the hosts overall, in his own way, especially those like Maeve or Ake who began to wake up without any real outside interference or coaxing from humans trying to prove they're more than robutts.

If anything it just made me wish we'd had a real scene with him and Maeve where she could respond to him, and that's disappointing!

He was kind of a dick when he uploaded as spyware on her too.

Kinda, but he did unlock some new features while he was there. Wonder what they do?

The most unbelievable plot point in Stranger Things is an Indianan girl going to Chicago and then coming back.
