Sonic Forces feels like a game that was rushed to completion, but unlike ‘06 they knew better and made sure it was polished enough and priced properly. Which led to a complete game, but one that felt short and lacking in mechanics or cohesion.

Sonic Forces is an okay game. I don't hate it, but I do feel like they could've done better. Character creator was definitely the most fun part and I'd love to see more of it in future games, possibly expanded a bit further. Classic Sonic felt a bit dull. The music was incredible. Boost Sonic gameplay was fun as usual. (IMO Generations perfected boost gameplay) Story felt a little lackluster, but I'm glad the comics are making interesting stories using it's premise.

For me at least, I don't know that it was necessarily that the Forces levels were too short, more that they never felt satisfying to beat. You can beat Emerald Hill Zone Act 1 in under 30 seconds easily (maybe a bad example because it's not boost-mode stuff) but it still feels like you accomplished something by getting to the end. It would be like if Rooftop Run ended right when you get to the clock tower. It feels like nothing has happened yet, but the game is telling you the level is over, so...it's over, I guess.

Sonic Official's playing some Mania Plus on stream, and Encore Mode looks pretty rad. Mighty's got some pretty interesting gameplay properties that sounds pretty useful for a speedrun.

It's going to come out in the same year as a movie about a mystery solving Pikachu voiced by Ryan Reynolds. Oddly enough, both films where Danny Devito would have been better cast but alas.
