We do have great food and we are way less segregrated then the north / west coast. the south is terrible but the entire country is terrible.

Most of the awesome things about southern food and culture come from the Caribbean and Africa. Food in Northeast Brazil is almost identical to food in the deep South because it all originated from the same places and people. I find it ironic when some shitheel racist white guy goes on about southern pride because most of the things they are proud of came from black people.

Even in North Carolina, where they had a rich tradition of slaughtering and roasting hogs as a community, that all came from poor black folks sharing what they had so everyone got something to eat. My current employer, a community history organization, has a face book page to talk about whatever historical work here that seems interesting.
