I don't doubt that many uyghur men are being jailed on trumped up charges, and this is leaving a surplus of uyghur women who cannot marry. I've also no doubt that han men are taking advantage of these desperate women, who are probably financially unstable, and imposing their own customs/demanding that they renounce their heritage, because that absolutely sounds like something that would happen. But an explicit quid-quo-pro would be insane. Either way, it's still really really lovely, and it's somewhat telling that HomeEx hasn't touched it with a 10 foot pole, probably because his usually schtick of China Can Do No Wrong won't fly. The situation there right now is worse than anything in the United States, Cheeto Benito included.
