she's clearly distancing herself from her dsa association less than a week after the primary win. i would think dsa members of all people would have a problem with that.

I'm pretty sure she's going to disappoint eventually but I've seen way too many attempts to find reasons to be mad at her from, let's just say, certain tendencies. It looks a little over-eager to do this, is all I'm saying.

see, and i think there's a lot of the opposite tendency going around — projecting qualities that don't exist on a person because you're desperate for a win. we've seen it with obama and bernard. at this point it's weird to not be at least a little skeptical

who cares if she doesn't insist on having a rose emoji next to her name on the senate roles as long as she pushes the policies that got her elected

I think AOC ultimately isn't going to be as radical as we might like her to be, but I still think it's disingenuous for people like CC to be the ones to bring it up purely to try and score cheap shots on the thread.

I dont think people like Huryovich are concern trolling so much as disappointed that AOC isn't educating the country as to what socialism is now that DSA has the national spotlight But that's not her job. It should be the job of DSA itself to educate and give socialism a platform but unfortunately national is all but deadbeat and the media isn't gonna contact locals

i saw people giving sameera poo poo for (rightly) pointing out the anti-war plank had disappeared from the platform, and i guarantee you those complaints are what got that restored. dismissing entirely fair criticism as concern trolling is dumb as dogshit.

Phi230 posted:I dont think people like Huryovich are concern trolling so much as disappointed that AOC isn't educating the country as to what socialism is now that DSA has the national spotlight Yeah, this is where I am at: I'm not looking for a hero, I'm asking, "What can this high profile win by a DSA-backed candidate do to advance socialism, and what role can I play in it?" She's not really going to be able to escape the association even if she wants to and even if the media's not going to talk to locals, real people are. We've gotten more interested people contacting us this week than in the past few months. That's where we can make the difference, even after she inevitably disappoints us all.

This is a perfect example of "looking for a thing to be mad at" which you can realize by asking yourself how this chain of events benefits Ocasio's secret war hawk agenda: 1. Run primary campaign with a "Peace Economy" platform plank, including printed materials with it. 2. One day after winning the primary, which was the more important race, remove the "Peace Economy" section from campaign website. 3. Don't anticipate anyone noticing because you're a moron, and then lie that it was a site glitch when someone does and restore it. Why do all this when, if she's really not serious about the "Peace Economy," she could just as easily leave it up and then vote for wars and poo poo once in office? Is she that concerned about losing the general election over it? GunnerJ has issued a correction as of 16:48 on Jul 1, 2018 |
