Yeah, the fact that Jones is stupid is why she's dangerous.

If she was smart she'd have bailed long ago.

Well, its nice to see Scary Go Round come to its hiatus with some solidarity (although it might just be Lottie circumventing her lifetime swimming ban) and dunking on Linton (also, dunking Linton). Apparently the goal is to make a comeback before August.

Also, have a one-page Shelley and Lottie comic.

I hope this type of post is allowed in here, but I did some unsuccessful googling and wanted to ask somewhere before I forget to do so later.

There was a web comic that I remember from a long time ago that was one of those that just stopped updating one day and eventually the domain lapsed and the author never came back. It was interesting in that it was animated a bit - flash I think - and I think may have even had some level of interactivity to it? It was a mystery comic with a good few chapters that ended when the mystery was solved. I think it started when the protagonist got trapped in the village/town when the bridge collapsed on his way in. I remember there were a few inhuman characters, like one of the girl characters had feelers on the top of her head or something? My memory is so vague but I definitely remember it being a thing, I just can't remember the name of it. If anyone somehow remembers what I'm talking about based on that hot mess of a description I would love to know what the name of it was!

Saw this hadn't been answered. The thing you're talking about was a site called The Spider Cliff Mysteries. Pretty sad to see that it is gone forever, and that we never really got any answers to the big questions.

"The Great Bandit King of the Felix Mountains", eh?

Apparently those fibs he told three year old Kit weren't so far from the truth. Or maybe even further from the truth than we thought. A bandit king doesn't sound terribly heroic. That spear seems like the real deal, tho.

Why do I still remember so many little things from this comic? Oh, right, because it's good and written in a way that rewarded attention to detail in the past.

You're spinning a really good tale, Morbi, I like it a lot.

Regarding Poppy, I completely missed that the magic secret police superior officer is human.

It raises some weird questions!
Also, I'm hugely enjoying this fight but honestly at this point I would extremely like the narrative to give Poppy a chance to cut loose, go full As In The Beginning with her extremely anti-magic heart, and tear through a good portion of Chicadino's henchmen.

Also, I can't tell if eyes that are a bunch of concentric circles around the pupil are a specific magical thing in-setting, or just a depiction of Really Intense Staring. This is doubly interesting to me given the dragon-like appearance of what I think is the Possum God in Petunia's vision of Poppy and the way dragons all have circle eyes like that. Weird eyes are definitely a major magical thing in the comic...

if you could snap your fingers and your perfect dream webcomic would pop into existence (with a reliable update schedule, non-jerk creator, all those good things). what would it be?

mine would be a well-researched multicultural post-apocalyptic thing with lots of ruin porn, very dark but with a light edge and a good sense of hope. giant monsters or ghosts or characters transforming into cool creatures would be a plus, but preferably just one fantastic element done well rather than a kitchen-sink approach. the characters could be human or furry, it doesn't really matter to me! the whole thing would be plotted out and scripted from the beginning for maximum satisfaction. also give me a saturated colour palette and that sweet stylish ultraviolence. yes. yes. i want to see people explode into gobs of ectoplasm and writhing tendrils. that's what i'm really here for.

Kinda sounds like you're describing Bad Bad Things. Maybe not, but who knows.

My "Impossible Webcomic Dream" would have been to actually get that final promised story arc of 70-Seas that it ended on a teaser for after Psych just gave up and moved on Latchkey Kingdom. Because that would have been the perfect resolution to the story and everyone's character arcs... and it just ended on the doorstep of any actual payoff and catharsis. Then again, 70-Seas always had trouble sticking the landing with its individual chapter endings, so it was actually kind of appropriate that it completely whiffed it's final bow too.

I also would have loved to have seen whatever the hell The Awakened's endgame was going to be before the author went and uprooted it and started again like three times over the course of a decade. Because it was going places before that latest reset. She says she wants to finish the story in some capacity, so who knows, I might actually see it one day, but for now it'll always be the one that got away to me, because it was one of the first webcomics I found via SA in one of the older versions of this hosed up thread.

The Scary Go Round hiatus has just begun for you, but for me it has been going on for a fortnight and the news from the coalface is: GOOD. I've been back through several sketchbooks and worked up two stories that existed as a few rough notes. Plus I've come up with a completely new one. In slightly worse news (for some), you will probably also get a new Fishman tale.

There will be some changes. I'm going to do bigger pages (like Expecting To Fly or Murder She Writes), but only three days a week - M-W-F.

*** Upcoming, in order subject to change ***
ENGLISH COUNTRY GARDEN - Shauna Wickle deals with home horticulture at its most vicious.

YOGA SHE WRITES (MURDER SHE WRITES 2) - Shelley Winters and Charlotte Grote enter a world of lycra-clad intrigue.

CODSWALLOP - Desmond Fishman is forced into the underground wrestling scene.

HERE TO HELP - Unable to re-enter the workplace, Eustace Boyce attempts to put his unusual skillset to good use.

I think that's 33 weeks of comics fully plotted/completely written. After these I'll probably have to go into seclusion again. But they'll tide us over until then.

Every one of these stories sounds amazing. MWF is a shame but I'm sure we'll get used to it.

I'd read that comic

more Templar, Arizona, or a longer-form Clementine, something like that. Stories about about dirtbags poking around the fringes of society doing bizarre poo poo and having fun conversations with weirdos; they aren't The Chosen One, or consequence-free id monsters, they can't afford a palatial apartment where every earthly need is satisfied by being a snarky barista for two hours out of the day and getting through the day is an actual plot in its own right, but they know how to get through locked doors and when to clear out before the cops show up. Bonus points for set in anywhere not stripmall America or high fantasy Tolkein knockoff, put it in like prewar Ethiopia with somebody who actually knows about that.

basically more comics from people who've actually had interesting lives I guess?
