Realistically if they use a Tales protagonist it'll be Lloyd from Symphonia. Mostly because he showed up in that weird Soul Calibur spin off for the Wii and had a Mii costume in 4. Symphonia was big on the GameCube, had a Wii sequel and was like the last major Tales game Nintendo had (except for the crap JP-only version of Grace's). And hey he's a swordsman who uses two swords.

simon's moveset should be a compilation b: subweapon, hold down for switching between them like shulk side b: sheiks old side b up b: uppercut, you can charge it to go farther down b: slide kick, press again to do the jump, becomes dive kick in the air and give him alucards back dash and omnia vanitas for his rolls

Persona Protagonist. Each game's protag is a different skin, like male/female Robin or the Koopalings. Like Snake, their moveset is an amalgamation of different skills from the Persona series. They can attack with swords, summon a persona, or shoot Mario with a gun.

There was also this which is awesome and I want one.  But yes Lloyd for Smash please. His moveset practically makes itself and I think he'd be a lot of fun to play.

If we got any indie fighter, I'd want Quote from Cave Story. Cave Story kicked off the whole indie trend, Cave Story coming to Wii was a really big deal at the time, and there's a lot of fun things you could do with his moveset.

Give us Artoria Pendragon from Fate/Stay Night. Screw the sword haters, I want EX-CALIBAAAAAAAAAAAAA! as a Final Smash. She was even in Fate/Extella on the Switch, so she's technically met the "been in a game on a Nintendo system" requirement.

She might technically be a game character but I doubt Sakurai would want to deal with the particular baggage of her franchise and also I doubt Nintendo wants to advertise for a franchise they’re directly competing with on mobile. The shrieks of weeb swordsman haters would be audible from low orbit though so I almost want to see it for the spectacle

I don't know how old you are but when SMB2 was new it was the poo poo The obvious reps from that game would be toad or birdo, although it really pioneered jumpy luigi and floaty peach

I'd like to see Wart return in another Mario game in general. Just to do something different. Considering 3D World had a lot of SMB2 callbacks, it would've been neat to see him show up, even if Bowser was ultimately the final boss.
