As long as western investment bankers can buy shares in Chinese companies to appropriate surplus value from Chinese workers, who gives a poo poo? China good. Long live the eternal science!

Seriously, I've been in multiple meetings recommending Chinese A-shares as a lucrative investment -- A-shares being denominated in renminbi, as opposed to B-shares which are denominated in dollars or euros. The Chinese government is still so oriented towards managing its currency that the hedging costs are very small. Meanwhile, as SOEs continue to shrink as a share of GDP, there are more and more opportunities for Western investors to alienate Chinese workers from their labor. As an American, this is ideal, especially if President Sanders manages to expropriate a share of those earnings to reward the labor aristocracy. Why would anyone be anti-China? All Homework Explainer wants is social democracy at gunpoint anyway, it won't change the underlying mode of production. People get upset about things tankies reflexively defend, but the current order of things is truly excellent.

self immolation historically is a buddhist religious tradition and has a much longer history in asia. i doubt it was a thing in the west at all before Quang Duc

i first saw the picture of thich quang duc on the rage against the machine cover when i was 12 and had no idea what it was portraying, and my understanding of that photograph has changed multiple times in multiple ways over the years from the initial simple "oh it was a vietnam war thing" i don't think u'd be far off if u made a case for him as an incarnation of jesus christ
