The small business thing is a canary though. It's failing to acknowledge the fundamental conflict between worker and employer in favor of things that sound important and wholesome. Decorum

there was a good part in a debate before the uk general election where some guy asked corbyn why he hated small business owners so much and corbyn said that the guy ought to consider how much small businesses get hosed by big business cartels. thats a better approach imo

even if she's complete poo poo, she's still miles better than Crowley but honestly, the hero worship poo poo isn't healthy in the first place. it's a symptom of the fact that there are so few Congress members willing to say anything leftist, so every time a new one appears, people get overexcited and raise them up as the perfect incorruptible being AOC, like Bernie and Keith, has many flaws but is still a vast improvement over the ones that came before, even if she's ultimately just a compromise unwilling to embrace full communism now. we can only hope that her success encourages others to run even further left

![]() California's likely next governor tamps down expectations for single payer *** “He’s not going to deliver a single-payer-like health care system because it’s too expensive and there’s not a roadmap for it now,” said David McCuan, a political analyst and political science professor at Sonoma State University. Indeed, many political observers think Newsom will incrementally expand coverage, possibly starting with a first-ever Medicaid expansion to undocumented adults. Newsom himself is already cooling expectations that he’ll blow up the status quo should he defeat Republican nominee John Cox. He recently told the San Francisco Chronicle that a single-payer system could take “years” to implement — a virtual certainty since it would require several approvals from the Trump administration. “It’s not an act that would occur by the signature of the next governor,” Newsom told the newspaper. “There’s a lot of mythology around that.” *** Insurance industry lobbyists and physicians believe that Newsom is likely to moderate his stance. The California Medical Association, which has endorsed Newsom despite its opposition to the state’s single-payer legislation, believe he’s committed to the same goal. The group’s president, Theodore Mazer, said the candidate sometimes equated single payer with access to health care for every resident: “We see it differently, and feel we can work with him to show there are other pathways to get to universal health care in California that don’t necessarily call for a government-run health system.”

I didn't think Bernie's #decorum tweet was enough reason to say the sky was falling, and I don't think AOC's small-business tweet is either I dunno guys, remember when Hillbots kept saying "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good" but the problem was that actually HRC was not good but bad? The difference is that AOC, while still not perfect, is actually good Hell I'm the Suck Zone's #2 poster and I have one or two opinions that the thread would get mad at if I were running for President

hello idiots, unless you abolish nation-states totally, which isn't going to happen anytime soon especially with the advent of the climate crisis, you absolutely have to have a proper immigration structure in place or else you have millions of unaccounted for people in the states who will (and already are!) be exploited by the system a proper immigration system means we can keep track of these people and ensure that they receive the protections and rights they're entitled to, which is why both bernie and aoc have called for a new agency and a redesigned immigration system alongside abolishing the gently caress out of ICE, a gestapo organization
