That would explain why I had no chance to get a good ending with him when I played this the one time. Skill-check sucker trap.

Dean is one of my favorite companions, and if he had been anywhere outside of the DLC that also contains God, a permanent fixture on my team. Something in the combination of being intellectual, an rear end in a top hat, and a loving ogre just hits all the right notes for me.

I love the Dean-Vera-Sinclair soap opera backstory. It just encapsulates the pre-War world so neatly- exaggerated, treacherous, romantic to the point of silliness. And it ties in perfectly with the theme of obsession, too. Can't wait for the next update!

That's just more to show how much of a utter scumbag he is, he knows exactly what happened to her and just wants to rub salt in the wound.

Can we get a non-canon thing which shows what happens when he actively hates you?

Another dimension to that: he's trying to goad her to speak to see if the voice is right.

Dean Domino is certainly the best written character in this DLC, and that's saying something because every character in Dead Money is already great. The real reason I was nice to him this whole time is because yeah, if you piss him off at all prior to this act, he doesn't give you the full backstory of his plan and doesn't reveal that he was the one who put Christine in the Auto-Doc. Instead, he taunts you from the balcony (catwalk?), and you can Speech check him to get him to slip up about how to dodge all the hazards in the Tampico. Once you confront him at the end, he's more vicious towards you than Sinclair and Elijah that he can't be reasoned with and you have to kill him. The game gives you quite enough time to run out of the room, too. About 30 seconds, if I remember.

The scene works out extremely well-staged either way, though. He's on the higher end of the stairwell, and the ominous lighting is hovering above him. It's the exact moment that he shows his true colors, literally. He even hisses at you if he doesn't like you at the end of his conversation, which is a nice touch, giving him a snake-like aspect to really hammer in just how venomous he is.

Oh, and I just finished recording for the end of Dead Money, and I gotta say... Elijah never saw it coming.

I BEAT MEAT
Getting inside the Madre is where this DLC really begins to shine, specifically storywise. And gameplay-wise too, I guess, since dealing with the hologuards is less of a pain than navigating the cloud-maze.

I love the outcome with Dog/God and I found it touching in a way that he'd find inner peace after so long. All the different endings for whichever option you choose are really good for him as well. As for Dean Domino, the point where he shows his real colours is like he's urging you to kill him, even if you "partnered" with him up to this point. I think I planted a grenade on him myself. Seemed fitting to end him in a really sneaky way that he never saw coming.

The remainder of the DLC is really golden, too. But obviously I'll save it for after you're finished.

I don't think I ever saved Dog/God, but that's because I try not to go Speech heavy (it makes things too easy) and he has a check somewhere in there that I think will kill him without recourse if you fail

Even on top of how horrible everything he's saying is, the voice acting during Dean's little rant (no spoilers; the video is essentially the same conversation we just saw with a less well-deserved conclusion) is astoundingly venomous. The guy's basically a parasitic wasp in a suit and shades.
