Well THE HANDMAID'S TALE, that was certainly an ending you chose to go with that made total sense.

Unrelatedly, I know it's contractual but how is it decided what episodes of something Hulu or Netflix get? Like they had one season of Good Eats for a while (which is now locked behind live tv), something like 14 to 18 and 24 to 29 of Chopped (and losing two Friday), but even then not even the full seasons and 4 through 9 of Cutthroat Kitchen. Who determines that you get like six episodes of a random season for something?

i like watching cooking shows :v:

Started watching Killing Eve finally. Definitely glad this thread reminded me I needed to see it.

Yeah, this was my feeling of it, too. I appreciate the goal and I think everyone gives a great performance, but the particulars still stick. Reportedly a lot of the questionable stuff in later BSG came from David Eick, which doesn't surprise me.

I still really wish that 17th Precinct had gone to series. I really liked that pilot. Virtuality not so much, but I probably would have watched a season's worth.

Literally could not stop watching once they got started either. :v:

I liked the BSG finale and thought it was well executed. But my expectations were also super low because that whole season on New Caprica or whatever was dreadful.

Your mother!

I have always maintained that the BSG finale is perfectly fine if you turn it off immediately after the pull-back on Adama and Roslin on the hilltop.

That was like four episodes (and also possibly the best four episodes of the show?)

Maybe the last 30 minutes were good. Anything before the Adama Maneuver is forgettable.

Four hours of "Hey guys check it out we're doing commentary on the occupation of Iraq do you get what we're doing here??? #thisisdeep" done with the feather light touch you'd expect from the show that gave us The Captain's Hand.

Oh god... back half of season 2 was pretty hard to get through. Immediately after the end of the Pegasus/Cain episodes, there are like five or six episodes of pure poo poo, which were even more striking because the show had been completely solid up until then.

Nah the spinoff happened after BSG ended.

I didn't like much of the New Caprica stuff, either, though the episode where they all get off that goddamn rock is one of the best.

Oh yes, I forgot about that one. I hate that goddamn “trustworthy person is obviously right but everyone thinks they’re lying because the plot needs it” trope. But then it’s Black Market and then probably the boxing one or the one where Starbuck has a personal vendetta against Scar the cylon ship.

I liked some of BSG and disliked some of BSG but I could never get on board with the whole "they're doing it because its necessary" of Adama and Rosen while they were like rigging elections and committing war crimes or poo poo.

I get the feeling a show that spent lots of time being a dick measuring contest between politicians and the military probably wouldn’t go down as well these days

Its not even that can't enjoy a military or cop show that doesn't reflect my politics. I can generally separate the two within reason.

Its just that BSG had this weird habit of having Rosen or Adama do something absolutely terrible and have every character staring at them in shock and disgust and outrage and they're just yelling "I DID IT FOR YOU! I HAD TO DO IT!" And then 6 episodes late everyone's like "Yeah, were were dumb and foolish. The ends justify the means."

Is there a write up (of decent detail) that covers season 4 of BSG? I never got around to watching the last 4 episodes or so and probably never will do, but curious to just what happens. I’ve seen a bunch of clips from those eps but never a coherent overview.

Episode summaries on wikis for shows are usually decently detailed.

This seems like a one season show (like 13 Reasons Why), so I'm unsure of what a second season could possibly even be about or why there would be a need for one.

Season 2 is also very good but since the first season wraps up the plot of the novel, season 2 is a lot different. A lot.

edit: season 2 of 13 Reasons Why was also good but more like Riverdale good than actual prestiege drama good

I think they were doing that intentionally, but that's not to say you can't dislike it of course. I like that they played with what you think you're supposed to feel about a character and make you question it.

That said, like every theme in BSG, it was superficial and underdeveloped.
