My team needs some veteran leadership and some goal-scoring acumen, and since it's mostly full of babies I think I can handle one old, old man in the lineup.  That old man is Jeff Carter. For now he'll bump Patrick down to third line duties (so he can get easier match-ups) but maybe Carter will shift to right-wing depending on how things shake out. I figure even if he couldn't pull his own line after another year or two, he's a prime candidate for a PP specialist position or his contract gets LTIR'd, but I have a lot of guys on good deals that gives me the room to gamble that he might still have 20-30 goals in him.

Looks like Cale Makar is the pick here. For some reason he's a top tier prospect that plays for my favorite lovely college program, Umass-Amherst. Quick went there too! Anyway he's a RHD and I need one of those. Guys, what have I missed about this guy? Is it strictly his age? Older guys have been taken. Guys who are much worse have been taken. Guys who are more expensive have been taken. I feel like I’m missing something. Anyway, Carolina selects Mikko Koivu. He’s a 35 year old center who plays 18+ minutes a night and is good for 45-50 points and excellent possession numbers, while playing tough defensive minutes against top opposition.
