It was, it was a holdover from before the retooling. My guess is since they were abandoning the premise, they didn't want to run a plot heavy episode until after they were cancelled.

I finished a rewatch of 30 Rock recently and the ending is still one of the best. I think 30 Rock overall is one of the best shows to come out of the 00s. Groundbreaking opinions, I know, I know.

The Lemon party joke still stands as one that lit this forum up at the time. Tracy Jordan's childhood memories is a top 5 comedy segment. It doesn't make me laugh anymore but at the time I came drat close to throwing up I was laughing so hard.
