There's a review for a GamerGate comic, that starts off with a quick recap of gamergate from a GGer point-of-view (that the woman was a bad person and the jilted ex revealed systemic problems in game journalism!), then immediately claims the reviewer isn't a GGer. Couldn't even get past that part, and it was bad enough because of big thumbnails of terribly ugly caricatures of Anita Sarkeesian were right next to it.

Fortis posted:Hello, friends. If you need a new webcomic to read and discuss, and would like to enjoy it, I humbly suggest Blasphemous Saga Fantasy, the story the story of Seb Fuller, a 12-year-old squire who ends up being forced into the role of world-saving hero when his mentor, Master Knight breaks a few ribs. Seb is joined by his new friend Lina Motscoud, a talented sorceress-in-training, and The Slime King, a gelatinous monster he grew up with. hey i just wanna say ive always enjoyed your comic sorry about the incredibly poor timing of your promotion post

Tollymain posted:hey i just wanna say ive always enjoyed your comic sorry about the incredibly poor timing of your promotion post Haha, thanks! I’m glad you enjoy it! I thought it might actually be good timing since Rand Brittain was so desperate to get people to stop talking about SFP, and with it going on hiatus (I guess?) people might want something to fill the void, but in a positive way. In hindsight yeah I guess it wasn’t great timing. vv

Yeah I read some stuff from that wiki and I know exactly what you're talking about. The write-up for Dumbing of Age I think literally says something about the authors SJW values being "shoved down your throat" which, bad comics aside, lol.

I've also been hugely enjoying Alethia, which - given the title - has made pretty clear sense to me. All of the factories so far have had a clear theme of injustice in production, often in the form of an individual or class being expected to do all the painful or unpleasant work, but also in the 'lie factory' where the robots are being intentionally taught wrong. The main character single-mindedly seeks truth, in a particular sense of greatest efficiency and moral clarity, which is currently not working so great because the current factory produces fiction, which she thinks is immoral and/or incomprehensible. It's the story of an itinerant philosopher who sees it as her job to repair or perfect the world, in a world arranged according to some pretty irregular principles. It helps that she literally just laid out her conception of the ideal robot society, which she sees as the purpose of her work.

Is that the two panel strip staring Vivian James and Not-Vivian James drawn by the dude who’s a literal washed up fetish porn artist? Because I came across a strip of it out in the wild the other day and was like “How the gently caress is this dude STILL coasting along with this garbage? Gamergate was four years, are are you THAT mad at video game feminism?” It’s also hilariously un-selfaware, to an almost adorable degree. The strip in question I saw was literally just “Wow, those crazy SJWs are still blaming things on Gamergate four years later... says man writing and drawing a comic explicitly about Gamergate in 2018.”

mycot posted:You're gonna have to be more specific than that. Hah. Yeah, that does seem to be a trend line, doesn’t it? Again, I love the un-selfaware irony of 4chan creating a fake woman out of #NotYourShield to specifically be their shield, and then immediately turned her into a sex doll subject to their whims because they’re a roiling blob of sweaty sexually frustrated male virgins who don’t actually like women. As for the comic itself, I think the dude I’m talking about renamed it a few years ago to like Trigger Happy or something to try and distance it from being explicitly about Gamergate... while still being 90% about Gamergate-related bullshit because he’s not that smart or creative.

Gonna do a little shilling for Ciça, The Saci Girl(English option up top) It's an episodic(Currently at 4 of the expected 8), lightly humored, cartoonesque series about the couple of main characters and their supernatural world. Mostly aimed at kids but not in a condescending way.

It started up as a place to re-host the old John Solomon & co. reviews after the writers decided that they hated the slurs in the reviews, 4chan fanboying in the comments, and related poo poo in the old blog posts, then the wiki was forced to take those down and had to make up their own hot takes instead.
