I dont think anyone has put hands on the 1400x1400 one, no one has complained about the IPD of the 2560x1440 one either, it fits me perfectly, but if your IPD is outside of average, you may want to get the 1400x1400

I went in on that $100 combo with the steam card, since I'll probably want to buy a game or two to go with the headset. I may have questions in the next week or so!

Adjustable lenses are important if your IPD isn't average. If you're at the narrow end or the wide end, a fixed IPD will always be slightly blurry.

I grabbed a set of calipers, due to the shape of the goggles couldn;'t get it exact but the lenses are 45mm and the closest point between the lenses is 20mm which is... 50mm IPD? I don't know if the focal point is in the center of the lens or not though. 50mm seems awfully low, may need to measure again.

My IPD is 59mm based on my zenni optical ruler and I'm pretty average size @ 5'11"

edit: yeah outside of lens casing is 45mm (45.45mm but it's sloped and a weird angle so lets say 45mm) and casing to casing is ~20mm

I just did My Shot from Hamilton in Soundboxing and it's my favourite map I've made in a while. Beat Saber converts, just give it a try. I really still insist that a good, motion-copied map beats a map with placed beats a lot of the time in VR, just because fun movements make fun maps.

edit: and if anyone is just curious, you can see the map being played, and robots echoing the movements I made while making it, at the link. use the mouse to move the view around if it's blocked.

Ah bummer so HOTDS doesn't have "native" HOTAS support and you have to bind absolutely everything before you can even try it out and I just got this dumb thing and don't know how to go about it so I'll have to wait till the weekend to sink some time and make an attempt at setting it up. Feels nice and I'm sure I'll have some fun with it once it's set up. Game doesn't pick up on Yaw or the throttle either since it's less sim and more arcade.

It's a bummer but it's not a lot of buttons. It took me like ten minutes to set up. Just screenshot the controller controls and work from there.

It's not a HOTAS game, don't even attempt playing it with one. Play it on an Xbox 360 pad or something.

I got that Walmart Monoculus Rift deal, real surprised how good it turned out. Hopefully the no positional tracking isn't too barfy in simulation stuff. Needed something for the YawVR whenever it arrives since a WMR headset wouldn't work for it.

When I bought this early today, and still as of right now, the 2560x1440 with $50 steam card is $99 total, while the lower res 1440x1400 is $130.

Did I miss something? Is the 1440x1400 actually per eye while the other two aren't? The fact that it's the only lens adjust model makes me think they actually used two 1440x1400 screens, since that's the only way that res makes logical sense.

Ok I've plugged the Monoculus Rift into my laptop and it's showing up as a 1440x2560 portrait mode display and I can see the Windows wallpaper when i put it on, but steam vr is saying error 108 headset not detected.

Any thoughts? I've installed latest version of steam vr, i have Nvidia set to always use my 1050ti for output, I've rebooted multiple times now. Plugged, unplugged the hmd.

Tried running in mirror mode (default) it suggests not doing that. Tried enabling direct mode, tried disabling direct mode

You can get it to run natively (not through ReVive, which needs the Oculus software to be running, it's a separate thing. You still need to download/install it through the Oculus software) with some finagling, but since it was financed by Oculus it will never come to Steam

I have a WMR headset that should have positional tracking, but Project Cars doesn't have it enabled. It wasn't super barfy, but was super annoying. While you can turn your head to look around, the car is 'attached' to your head, so rather than lean forward/back to see around the wheel/a-pillar/what have you, the car instead just moves with you, and you can't see anything new.

Assetto Corsa is my jam with the Monoculus. Car racing games are the ones I mind the least that I can’t move around in. In a real race car you’d be strapped in with a 5 point harness and you wouldn’t be leaning anywhere.

It would be nice in Ultrawings to lean a bit but as it stands just looking all over the place works well

Just from looking at YouTubes, it seems like one person did a GTA VR that was actually really good but it was discontinued (this is the now broken link:http://rly.sexy/gta-vive-alpha-0-1-release):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4EIXJ8XofQ&t=157s

The mod that is still going requires VorpX, and the person who made it says if you don't own VorpX, it isn't worth buying it just for his mod, so not exactly a vote of confidence:

http://grandtheftvr.com/openvr-support/

There's no way to get a trial of VorpX, so you're really rolling the dice if this is all you want to do with it.

Played about half the game in VR and other than since graphic issues with UI, it played okay and looked great. Haven't tried this mod to know if he improved that. 1070 should be fine, but I just feel like mentioning if you're spending 75 dollars already, and taking it back, you maaaaaay want to consider like a WMR headset that can be had for 150 like this HP one. Its a little more, but especially for something like skyrim you'll have movement tracking, as well as controllers for your hands so you can swing a sword, throw a spell, or shoot an arrow. You can play it sitting down with a gamepad but, I dunno it loses something.

For 75 bucks or whatever i think those walmart sets are fine for cockpit stuff, but, I just have a nagging itch to say if you're wanting to do stuff like skyrim, spend a little bit more.
