Yeah, buying it from the store is broken but plugging it in from that box on their main page works fine.

I called it, new STD era starting sequence for Feds.

Also, all existing reps getting a new tier of reputation.

And of course it's a new Fed starting sequence rather than giving the Klingons (or to a lesser extent Romulans) some love.

I'm down. Discovery isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be and Mary Wiseman is cool. I think Anthony Rapp has also expressed an interest in voice acting on Twitter.

Just gimme those season 2 Enterprise uniforms.

T6 Reps unlocking ship traits might be interesting, if they went down that route.

No way they’re giving ship traits on something that doesn’t cost zen, either directly or via lockbox keys.

I'm guessing cosmetic poo poo. Maybe unlocking each rep faction's armor/uniform at tier 6 without needing to buy the ground gear set? Or maybe some combination of doffs, boffs, and admiralty cards.

There's a lot of stuff they could put in a sixth rep tier. Warp cores for the MACO/KHG/Omega sets, a ground set for Romulan, kit modules for the old ones... I expect to be very disappointed.

Asimo

Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be some new sort of equipment or mechanics reward with worthless options from the new reps so they can monetize the good ones.

Well it was barely an expansion, really, it had the content you'd get from an old season.

Still pretty good stuff for this game, though.

Anyone hear anything about any giveaways at Star Trek Las Vegas? I lucked into a chance to go and know they've given stuff away previously but haven't seen anything yet this year.

Since the latest expansion dropped, my game now freezes for about five seconds every twenty seconds or so. I have played with graphic settings, but can’t seem to figure out what Cryptic changed that has killed performance so drastically (with this game alone). Anyone have a clue?

For some reason I decided to listen to yesterday's livestream and while they didn't really give any specifics that aren't in the blog, it was made pretty clear that they are going to be heavily focused on Discovery stuff going forward. Someone asked if this was going to become STD Online, and while they said "no", it sounded more like the 2409 stuff is going to start getting treated like the red-headed Klingon child who only gets stuff every now and then while the STD stuff becomes their big focus going forward. But hey, we'll see right?

Somewhere in the distance, the one Klingon main sobs.

Klingons in STD aren't the Mongolian viking samurai we know and love (or hate) from existing Trek. STD Klingons are, according to one of the writers, a stand-in for ISIS: an isolationist society of warriors obsessed with purity, and in the course of the show merrily indulge in torture, cannibalism, and rape.

The Romulans are also whimpering. Not only were they completely absent from ViL's story, the Romulans flat out haven't appeared in STD yet. STD's had the Klingons and the Mirror Universe. That's it for bad guys.

Considering how quickly this was announced after VIL's launch and how abbreviated VIL and the gamma quadrant stuff was, a part of me wonders if a few months ago CBS went to Cryptic and very firmly asserted that the franchise is going to revolve around STD now and they drat well better put it front and center as advertising for the show. :tinfoil:

I wonder how they'd even do that - the "main game world" is pretty solidly in 2410. New "past quadrant" maybe?

It makes sense. If CBS had managed to get any one of its previous attempts to do a new Trek show off the ground in the last seven years, we'd already be closely following it. Timeframe of the game aside, they'd be stupid not to.

STD can't really include the Romulans either without loving up the timeline since it's set like 10 years before the TOS epsiode where they actually see Romulans for the first time. So I expect they'll be the main antagonists for season 2 and Romulan players will have nothing to worry about.

Wasn't there supposed to be some kind of Romulan war prior to TOS? I was hoping to get that in Disco.
