-Stack 2 S-class scanner upgrades with your visor and scanner for a ~10,000% scanning bonus
-Fly backwards shoot forwards until you have a good fighting ship
-Build a base, slog through the specialist terminal stuff to get the exocraft. 50 minutes walking is 10 minutes by nomad and 1 minute by ship
-Buy an inventory slot at every station you go to, it's behind the left-most vendor on the right side of the station
-Collect a pile of missions from every station you can warp to and do them all at once. If you have 5 missions telling you to kill animals, or scan rocks, each one you kill/scan gives you credit for all 5 missions

What else should i add?

that answers my question on the exocraft. is there any way to get rid of ships flat out? I’m already up to 4. can we upgrade/add/replace our freighter with a bigger one? I’m seeing some people lucked into super nice ones with their freebie but mine is tiny

Sort of, they still stack if they don't touch but touching applies an additional smaller bonus.

Add instructions on how to do the melee-jetpack trick, I don't think it's documented anywhere for new players.

I got two to add

- Having your freighter and your ground base in the same system seems to cause base quest progression problems in some cases. Try jumping the freighter to another system and saving/reloading afterward to resolve
- While sprinting, melee then jump in quick succession to fly at high speed as long as your fuel lasts

Any idea what I can do now, except hoping the few crystals I found respawn after restarting the game?

You can find ships that have launch thruster efficiency modules
Buy a ton of ferrite dust and dihydrogen and produce 20 launch thruster fuel units at a time, they stack 20 deep in regular inventory
stack life support/hazard protection modules together to increase fuel efficiency of those
fuel quickly quickly by hitting X(keyboard) or down on the d-pad, the menu will start on whatever is lowest

it is the basic survival loop of the game, but you can make it easier depending on what irks you the most. Once you have the inventory to store a bunch of stuff and the cash to buy materials you can ignore survival for the most part.

I'm still real early on but keeping an eye on the white indicators that show up as a circle in front of you that point to nearby sentinels helps with this a bit too. Seems like they have a really low sight range and you can just move away from them if they get nearby. Obviously this doesn't help if you're in your inventory and they fly up to you, which they seem to like to do :(

Upgrade the mining laser immediately to advanced so you can hit rocks with the t2 materials. They are vastly more efficient for reloads.

Upgrade suit life support and hazard stuff and it will also drain slower.

The only thing I feel like I'm reloading a lot is the terrain tool.

I'm really mystified by sentinels as a game mechanic. It seems like they're there to provide an "enemy" and allow for combat, but there's no way to win against them. Kill one and more, stronger ones just immediately teleport in, forever. It would make sense if you had to clear out sentinels that were guarding an especially valuable thingamabob, but there's no way to do that. They just permanently block off your ability to operate in certain areas. And yes, it was great to discover that they can phase straight through a mountain, so you can't even dig a tunnel to hide in.

I think they wanted a "GTA Police-like" mechanic to punish you for doing "bad" things but in GTA it's actually fun to fight/kill/escape them, none of these things apply to Sentinels.

HoboTech

Reading this with the voice in your skull.
So I've discovered this game does not want you to deviate from its plan in any way, shape, or form, and it will punish you severely if you do. For example:

- Started new game, repaired starter ship, started doing quests, etc
- Found crashed ship worth a lot, swapped out old ship, traded new expensive ship for newer (rare) ship
- Get to the part where you finally start to make warp fuel. Happen to find some instead so I use it.
- "Oops!" says the game, "You broke the sequence! I'm not going to let you warp!"
- Find out I have to swap out my cool ship for a new one, get more warp fuel, power that, THEN I can warp.
- Lose cool old ship, fix sequence break... cheat to get old ship back.

I literally had to bust out cheat engine to reset my net worth from the bug. I was having fun, but this definitely soured the experience a bit. So a word of advice for new players, DO NOT break sequence. Do exactly what the quests tell you and nothing more.

The game does not give you the recipe for anti-matter until AFTER your first warp.

The housing is given right off. They give a mission that lets you grab anti-matter straight up. You use that to make your first warp battery. Warp, then you get the anti-matter recipe.

Can’t believe they have a trillion procedurally generated planets and animals and stuff and there’s still only three alien factions, one of which is a warrior race called The Vikings

A trillion procedurally named rocks and trees and exactly one space station layout, one abandoned facility layout, etc etc.

Reshuffling the tech tree to add processing times to everything while keeping in the “you gotta refuel your ship every four launches” is a joke

I am still gonna play some more this weekend but the devs really don’t know what their strengths are or how to make them fun.
