I want to know this too. I own a "spare" ship but can't summon it onto my Freighter. Since I can only fly one ship at a time, how am I supposed to get both of them on the Freighter? :iiam:

Possibly, but how can a person tell? As far as I could see, there is no explanation or even clues about how to move ships. You can’t, as far as I can tell, teleport off a freighter, and you can’t summon ships to the landing pads — it just says “cant land here”, and there is no ship control panel.

A solid part of this game's problems stems from the fact that, even after all this time, it is just absolutely terrible at explaining stuff.

Anyone playing this on PC but with a controller? Guessing it just works like most steam games in Windows 10 these days? I want to play this in my living room without using a M/KB and I'm trying to decide between the PS4 version or PC version using a streamlink to stream from my PC to my living room TV.

I built the console, but now I have two different quests, Expanding the base and Ghosts in the machine, that basically say the same, but no marker. I hope it isn't bugged

There really needs to be a way to do autopilot or something. Now that flying over planets is actually interesting and fun, I want to be able to point my ship at something 5 minutes away and not have to hold Circle for the entire 5 minutes.

Save, quit to main menu, and reload. This should force all your owned ships, in flyable state or not, to appear on your freighter. Unless you have more than 9, I guess, since that's how many a freighter can hold.

You can only own 6 ships in total, at which point you no longer get the dialog for outright purchasing/adding to collection.

Fun fact that I discovered, once you own 6 ships, nobody will land in your freighter any more! Turns out there's a hard cap that only 6 ships can be in a freighter at a time!

Something interesting about the latest patch:

In the original NEXT patch, some exotic ships changed appearances. Patch 1.51 fixes this issue, but it turns out newly-spawned exotics were being affected, too. So, if you were a totally new player with NEXT (including Xbox players) who found an exotic ship, they probably look totally different now and will probably not be reverted since this is the intended version of each.

My ship got an extra fin. I actually preferred it before the change, but it was minor and I don't mind much. My friend's ship did a total model swap into one he hates.

There kinda is, but it only works in space.

Aim the circle in the middle at the icon you want to go to and engage the pulse drive. If it's a bit off from the center it will adjust itself to the middle. As soon as you hit the atmosphere you'll automatically slow down to boost speed without hitting a button and it'll swing you do your flying straight down to your destination.

Any angle you do this from will work. If I want to go to somewhere on the same planet I just go to high atmosphere, aim and pulse. Soon as I figured this out getting places was easy.

Well i went ahead and burnt the few million I had on a S-rank 24-slot multi-tool. I could afford it and I figured might as well get that out of the way. I lose an S-rank scanning module but I immediately found one to replace it so I’m back where I was as far as scanning goes. Now I need to go spelunking and hope to hit the jackpot. The last ruins I visited (using navigation data) only gave me about 600k worth of stuff. Crashed freighters I’m averaging about 2M per trip, though.

Kinda/Not really. The Atlas path was the original “story” the game had. Artemis/Apollo was the new story added a bit ago. Getting to the core is just the open ended “goal” of the game.

I have no idea how it’s been changed but the Atlas path story’s reward helped immensely with reaching the core as it let you see black holes on the galaxy map.

Yes, you get one freighter for free this way.

Something I wish I knew before accepting the first one offered to me is that, if you turn it down, the same thing will happen in the next system you jump to, and again if you decline, etc, and that in this way you can reroll the freighter offered until you get an A or S class for free.

Edit: Also, it really bothers me that my crew changes species every time I jump to a new system.

..btt posted:

You should add what this guy said about sentinels because it seems quite a few people are confused by their behaviour

That's only part of the story. The problem is there's no fundamental difference between the behavior of Normal sentinels and "Passive" (or rare or whatever the other low-sentinel levels are.) They are always on you when you first land on a planet, and they're everywhere and you have to run from them. They all attack you if you mine when you're in sight, even the "passive" ones which isn't at all passive. They also never stop attacking you even if you kill them instantly unless you hide in a building (or sometimes a cave that you dig but that's not always reliable, they've phased through the ground to get me.)

The even worse problem is if you're being hunted by sentinels and you go off into space. Then you have to get back to a planet and hide in a building because they will never go away, ever. You can kill them and just get more. There's no hiding from them in space whatsoever.

The issue is that all sentinels go perma-aggressive if they see you mining and your only recourse is to hide. That's stupid.

If you were just going to game the system by flying around until you got a better free freighter save yourself time and game the system by just editing the stupid save game: https://github.com/goatfungus/NMSSaveEditor

I did this myself to just give myself a better multitool and some cash to just get a really good ship off the bat because I get stuck with paralysis about not wanting to upgrade a tool/ship I'm about to replace and so forth and it gives me some stress. Obviously it's a cheat and it's not for everyone but it is effective and seems to work perfectly fine. If you were going to pseudo-cheat anyways this is just a quicker way of doing it (I know it's not quite the same, yes yes.) But now I'm able to play the game and explore and do quests and not be stressing out about a stupid multitool.

Interesting observation... I was going through my whole list of stations to see where would be the best place to sell these egg sacs I have and after figuring out which one was the best, I warped back to it, got on my freighter to get all my stuff, and went for the trade console only to discover the -0.9% had changed into a -1.7%. I wonder what causes this (other than RNG.)

Yes. Funny enough the dialog after saving a freighter if you already own one is such that he offers it to you, except it won't actually be free as the text suggests. But if you don't own one I'm sure it'll stay free.

Eh, it’s just establishing the mechanics of the game early. The freighter “game” is really about recruiting frigates, sending them on missions, and upgrading/building a base within the freighter. Gating that until god knows when doesn’t help retain people that may be interesting on the fleet/space portion of the game.
