this is a doozy. infighting in the west coast nutjob circuit. backgrounder is that the original plan was for patriot prayer to have their rally in portland on aug. 4. shortly thereafter, they'd pack up their helmets and body armor and travel to berkeley for a "resist marxism" rally organized by amber gwen "headlock helen" cummings, who has been leading the far right events there since 2016 or so. (basically when this whole thing started.) it was always a logistically tricky plan to pull together, made all the trickier after those chuds who got jumped by that crowd in oakland the other day. now PB and PP are pulling out of the berkeley rally. another problem is that cummings seemed to have invited the american guard, which asserts itself as a "patriot" organization but emerged out of the racist, neo-nazi skinhead scene (technically it emerged out of vinlanders, which emerged out of the hammerskins). secondarily, cummings is denouncing a sacramento proud boy organizer named gabe silva (a regular on the patriot prayer circuit) for his inflammatory statements:  the SPLC also picked up on silva's comments. well, they were more like rants:  the american guard is also pulling out of the berkeley event leaving cummings high and dry; or cummings didn't want them to attend... or something. it's confusing. one of the american guard leaders, joshua long (former member of "the hated," a racist skinhead group) said he was bringing 30-40 guys to berkeley but it's a moot point now:  the american guards leader (profile of him) also chimed in:

the common trend i'm seeing, is that the nazis get most of their success, purely from determining when and where engagements happen. they go on a road trip to portland, and suddenly it's this big thing. there's a lack of initiative from the opposition. it's also unrealistic to expect an occupy protest to have enough people round the clock, to push back. so i don't think occupy style protests are viable anymore. too susceptible to local concentrations of force from nazis. the degenerate strategy here is flash-mobs.

I feel like we're missing some important context for the pedophilia reddits being shut down. 1: This is Michael Brutsch, aka violentacrez, the head mod of almost all of them  2. This is the trophy reddit staff gave him for "significant contributions to the reddit community"  3. He was first exposed by Adrian Chen of Gawker in this article 4. Reddit staff responded to the story by imposing a site-wide ban on the entire gawker network, and left the pedophile subreddits up. Violentacrez deletes his main account and hands over the reigns of the pedophilia subreddits to the other mods and his alts. 5. A two weeks later Anderson Cooper did an expose, in which Michael Brutsch agreed to do an in-person interview because he is as dumb as he is vile. Drew Griffin treats him with open contempt and he's too dense to realize it. Brutsch brings the above trophy to the interview. After the interview aired, he said he thought he came off pretty well. Look to how the UK handled the National Front in the 70s and 80s which was large public festivals like Rock Against Racism to ensure a vibrant multicultural positive anti-racist atmosphere was present and accessible to the public which was used to recruit for anti-racist activity elsewhere. The far left also engaged in squadism at the time which is probably less appropriate in the context of the USA.
