No seriously guys, I've been to a LOT of Red, Blue and Green stars (if you have the Indium drive you don't need the Emeril or Cadmium) and never saw Emeril or Cadmium listed in a scan of a planet. So I'm just insanely unlucky?

I have found plenty of Indium but I don't have the blueprint for that drive.

No idea then. I've also had loads of cadmium delivered via industrial fleet expeditions so maybe give that a go? Fleet missions are super good for just delivering money and mats, though you want to make sure you're sending 4-5 of the correct class of ship to avoid them being sent back for repairs.

Check mission boards. Jump between online sessions if you haven't built up a good list of stations to teleport through. All you need is one "defend the freighter" mission and you're set.

Less optimally, go to a high conflict system and go between planet and space a bunch or just pulse drive and stop a bunch.

Do it only on PC where you can solve that problem with money.

Also, just because it's in the files doesn't mean it's in the future. They could have explored it, reached the same conclusion you did, abandoned the effort, and didn't scrub every last trace of it from the files.

(Also they only need to hit 60, the PSVR can make up the difference with ATW-like processing. Still probably out of reach.)

Bug finder DaveKap back again with a good one.

Don't park in the corner of your freighter if you own exactly 2 working ships! I'm talking about the far left corner if you're looking at the docking bay from the entrance. Why? Because sometimes the game will glitch and merge your 2 owned ships together and trying to take off from one of them will cause you to instead get interpenetrated into your freighter and get stuck! It's a fantastic bug that won't happen if you only own 1 ship or own a third ship that will end up in the second slot un-merged. Fixing this bug involves getting out of the freighter with that third ship and re-warping your freighter.

From Reddit (grain of salt needed) if you edit the TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS file (No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS) to have "NumHighThreads" matching your CPU's total logical thread count (found in the Task Manager) this will apparently net you some FPS gains. I already got a solid 60 but did this anyway and it has yet to give me worse performance so at the very least it shouldn't break anything. Good luck!

Am I hosed?

Ugh ditto.
Dropped into system, got one of those insane star-destroyer-looking freighters as my reward, with 30 slots.
Then another freighter got attacked, saved them too.
So a lovely saucer-disk freighter with 17 slots overwrote the 30 slot star destroyer.

I got confused because right after I finished punching the bandits I got a comms about 'hey thanks for the help! pls inspect this support ship that costs 2 mill to hire.'
So that made me think that I was going to get a support ship when the captain asked me onboard. Evidently not.

I guess I'll just hang out in this system and see if the quest loops more.

I found a ship with 26 slots worth 3.5 million but since only 11 slots are available it's only worth about 990k for a trade in.

Has anyone advanced through the Atlas questline to where it starts teleporting you throught the universe and you end up in a planet with your ships thrust busted? The game didn't let me make the elements to fix it and the tower I needed to go was 20 literal minutes away. So I go running, and another marker pops out, 20 minutes away. I go, and the same. Now my ship is like 40 minutes away and I don't wanna trek to the other tower if this is a bug. Anyone?

Savescumming/hopping back to a slightly earlier save and going to the system dropped me into saving the exact same freighter I originally got. Wonderful.

Now I just wonder, is the Item-Teleporting thing worth it for freighters? The ship based one is pretty small, but useful. It would be nice being able to access the freighter's inventory planetside.

I haven't, but I did find a Portal and activated it (you charge it with minerals). It sent me to one of those hellscape/geometry planets with my ship right next to me, and there was an Abandoned Space Station in the system. It also wouldn't let me leave the system because of "Portal interference". But the Portal was 2-way, I don't think they used to be, so I just walked back through it and out of the Shadow Universe.

Yeah, I also went through a portal but I ended up inside an atlas stations and then it teleported me into a desert planet with my ship busted. Well, I guess I'll trek the next 20 minutes and if it's a bug, gently caress it

Man the randomness of S-rank modules is kinda annoying. I just found the third S-rank life support I’d need but it’s bonuses so kinda weak compared to my first one. These are my 3 “S” modules (life support tank / solar power):
118/28
68/38
56/35

I may just reload and skip the one I just found and keep on searching for a better one. Either set the nanite price base on module bonus or let us see the bonuses when purchasing. Taking a blind guess is stupid.

so i like this game, but it has the worst interface ever.

like I just found out that the upgrade modules for temperature/toxic/radiation etc aren't just flat passive bonuses, they're separate shields that totally block environmental damage as long as they're charged on top of your default hazardous protection. They're also charged using either ion batteries OR a resource that is common on the extreme type of world you use them on. So the fire shield is charged with phosphorous, the cold one is charged with dioxide, etc.

they're insanely useful for exploring the extreme worlds but they just look like a % upgrade module so I didn't try buying one for a looong time. Now I can chill out in a firestorm on a lava planet and just periodically charge it up with the phosphorous I get from mining random rocks.

I found a fun bug too. I went to the next atlas outpost, land and when I get out it puts me under the landing platform where there is no way out.

But the system is nice. There's a giant ringed planet and 2 moons on/under the rings. One moon was okish but the other is baked (I love that term) with abundant resources and low sentinel presence. It also has hopping pineapple wildlife and walking handjobs.

So I put down my base computer and entered the terrifyingly bad world of base building. It could be fun and stuff but the UI makes my brain hurt. Why the gently caress do they still have the worst possible port of a console interface on my PC version.

Still mad about S-rank randomness and my last chunk of ancient ruins have all been sub 1M :argh:

Also is freighter technology gated off somewhere in particular? I’ve found plenty of upgrades for my ships but I’d like to make my freighter go further as 1 warp cell gives me 5 jumps on a freighter.

Upgrading the scanner can be a massive money maker. In the video he finds one that increased the scanning of flora by about 8,000% He was making an average of 20,000 credits per scan of basic plants.

Also instead of trying to repair a crashed ship, just fix the launch thrusters and propulsion system, and then fly to a space station, go to ships that land, offer to buy, and if your ship is worth as much or more than the other you can trade your ship and get a brand new fixed ship, for essentially free.

Once you unlock a freighter you don’t even need to do that. Just add it to your collection then after you jump your freighter it should be in there completely broken. Wait for another ship to land and trade.

This one made my day earlier. I was just messing around exploring, when on impulse I hopped in a black hole. 1.2mil LY. After I started the Artemis triangulation quest. That option popped up and saved me a ton of work.

On a different note:
I hate sentinels, but on a thematic level they work so I’m torn. As I play and explore more I absolutely feel like a heavy footed rear end in a top hat stomping thru all these carefully curated and protected digital playgrounds. It also has a weird echo effect of me(the player) playing the work of the creator(Hello Games) while my character does the same. I mean, yeah it’s way more thought about the topic than necessary. But NMS tends to make my brain wander as I explore.
