What happens is Bane has Catwoman's friend put doubts in her mind and says that by making Bruce Wayne happy she effectively kills Batman, so Selena leaves Bruce. I really liked the variety of art in that book, though.

It's probably just that the writer wanted to show Batman being clever by knowing a trick to stop a charging rhino (other than the obvious, of course).
