There needs to be more charging locations on I-80 at least, it's a long rear end way from Reno to SLC. At least add one in Wendover at the Nevada/Utah border.

White Pine County, which makes up most of central eastern NV and includes Ely, has a total population of 10,000 people and a density of about 1 person per square mile. A bunch? No. But that's about a 400 mile stretch of major coast-to-coast interstate. Which I drove almost monthly for three years. There should probably be a couple. Edit: Oh, there are now. Lovelock, Winnemucca, Elko, and Wendover all have superchargers now. That is a change from 2015, when I moved out there.

It’s an option you can turn on and off, and I don’t know that I’d use it all the time, but fundamentally it’s no more or less dishonest than having a car that does active noise cancellation of certain harmonics, or even someone who spends money on an exhaust that doesn’t really add any extra power. But you seem to be a pretty strong Tesla partisan, so complain away.

Yeah I wondered about that too. Dropping a bunch of copper wiring on the floor seems just like the non-deterministic thing that would make a Kuka-bot poo poo itself.

They did, because they wanted to make the cars sound more interesting than they would have otherwise. This is no different. So be snooty and turn your nose up about it if you like. You were never going to buy one but if this is the one factor that you can point to as that reason, more power to you I guess. As one of the few people who post in this forum who’s actually spent some time driving an I-Pace, all I can do is tell you I actually quite liked the option as an alternative to the serene whoosh (and hefty wind and tire noise) that you get otherwise.

Deathreaper posted:So I've driven the Model 3 for about a month now - put over 3,300 KM on the odometer. About half of the mileage is from my regular commute, and the other half is from longer road trips. I'm completely enamored by this car and how it drives. I kept my FRS for summer driving, but to be honest, I'm taking it out once a week while I do all of the other driving with the Model 3. I was expecting a comfortable and practical daily driver, but this thing just drives and handles so drat well. I just hope it's reliable in the long run. I had planned to replace the FRS with a Cayman GTS or 911 GTS in 5 years, but my experience with an EV has owned so hard and has completely changed my mindset - i'm having increasing difficulty believing I would want to purchase an ICE car again. FR-S to Model 3 buddy. I love my FR-S and didn't trade it in for that reason. But now I am filled with sadness when I sit in it, because the Model 3 has ruined me. I had to renew my registration which required me to get the FR-S emissions checked, and I am amazed at how annoying that is all of the sudden.

http://ir.tesla.com/events-and-presentations Q2 earnings call is in 10 min. It should be a good one. Last earnings call Elon went off the rails (not really, but by conservative wallstreet standards he did) Everyone knows this will be Tesla's worst quarter ever, the question is how bad? I hope for some more Elon fireworks, as long as he does not call anyone a pedo... And if we are lucky some incite into Model 3 numbers in the 3Q so far, maybe. Exciting times if you are a Tesla lover or Hater.

I mean, it's pretty standard for individual technicians and engineers to not understand the the complete process, but there should be a department where you can go and raise your safety concern and they're obligated to investigate. Maybe there's a logical explanation for all of it because the employee never saw the whole picture, but that explanation should be fully documented by the internal audit with findings and recommendations. Maybe I'm just spoiled by working in a heavily regulated industry and thinking that all companies should have an SMS of some kind.
