Holding Tesla to a higher standard is fine, but holding them to a stupid standard is not. If the damage to the batteries was repairable to like-new status then they shouldn't be discarded.

Tesla's most functional autopilot is completely based on a system that was available and in fact shipped on many other manufactures cars and Tesla was the only company reckless enough to let it drive the cars while the designer of the system was screaming at them to stop. That system has now killed multiple people.

So yeah, you shouldn't trust them not to do something dangerous and stupid in a sealed system that you can't look in when they do it right in the open already.

Maybe Musk wouldn't have to respond to the accusation if they didn't have a history of building shoddy cars and being dicks to past/present employees.

Also, maybe Musk should just shut the gently caress up about pretty much everything because he's so disconnected from reality, he might as well be in his space car.

Totally with you- I posted a few months ago with much the same. Tesla just dominates the news in this world right now, for better or for worse.

I myself am excited for VW and Honda moves in the EV sphere, and I’m super pumped to see more than just concepts on what they’re coming up with.

They already have imo. Now we just need the mature charging infrastructure to support them. What's everyone's experience with non Tesla fast chargers?

Who should fund this audit?
I mean if it found Tesla innocent of the alleged wrongdoing this one engineer making the accusations sure isn't going to pay for it, and making Tesla pay to investigate themself if they turn out to be innocent would be some bullshit.
Having Tesla be on the hook for the investigation and cleanup costs if they're in the wrong would be fine, but it would be super exploitable if the standard is that companies have to pay for audits of themselves any time someone accuses them of wrongdoing and they deny it regardless of the outcome.

Used a (CCS? Whatever isnt ChaDeMo) at an Ikea before we got the home charger. Took us near 20 minutes because we didn't have the app and the location was underground so no signal.
Came out to like $3 and we were near 3/4 full when all done.

There's also Volta chargers at Malls which are free and feel loving amazing when you snag one.

if any other company was accused of same they would have the paper trail to prove it and would probably at minimum conduct an internal audit - tesla's persecution complex makes them look suspicious at times and it's not really benefiting them in any way

In Norway we have a pretty good network of quick chargers (at least ChaDeMo and CCS) run by two companies. As a member of the norwegian electric car owners organization I got a rfid fob that I've registered with both companies, and can now just touch to the chargers to start them. Works pretty smoothly. I do a long trip (~200 miles each way) with my Kia Soul about once a month and I can usually pass one or more points without stopping if I can't be bothered.

Tesla now boosted the price of most model 3 paint colors to $1500. White and Red are now $2000. Keep in mind these were all $1000 when ordering was first opened. Black is still a "free" color. Thinking now of going with black when SR comes out and spending the "saved" money on ceramic paint coating instead.

This is dumb, Tesla doesn't make their batteries, Panasonic does using own IP in a Tesla factory. And Tesla's cells are standardized, the reason everyone else isn't using them is not because they haven't considered other models of cars or can't match the energy density or have no plans for fixed storage products, it's because Tesla committed a shitload of money to having Panasonic make a shitload of cylindrical cells when objectively better technology came out but not so much better that Tesla could be justified in junking the investment they already made.

Gets instantly too hot sitting in it. My black has a metallic flake that shows through the dust and scratches pretty well, and it's easy to find with the remote start AC. But I have to run that AC hard when the sun's out.

Trading currently suspended at $367. e: back open. /e:

Was announced/confirmed that over the last few months the Saudi public investment fund has purchased 3-5% of Tesla on the public market, after Tesla turned them down on an equity purchase.

Elon tweeted, and has followed up with several other tweets, that he has been considering, and has the funding for, taking the company private again at $420/share.

Also shorts have another billion (+/-) in unrealized losses for the day, and if taking the company private goes through they'll be completely hosed.

In other news, another batch of several thousand model 3 VINs were registered, hundreds of additional model 3s were delivered, and the vast majority of new owners are exceedingly satisfied with their purchase.

How would it work? Presumably Musk or someone else would have to buy out all the other shareholders - but he says he'd preserve current shareholders' stakes, which sounds like taking the company private would require some kind of vote? Obviously there's another mechanism I'm not getting..
