Played Yakuza 0 on PC for 3 hours so far. The game is really dope but man, something is seriously wrong with the port and it's making the game unplayable.

I can turn the game up to High and get a solid 60 fps even in cities, with my GPU and CPU usage never going above 50% (if I turn off VSync the fps flies up to like 120-170) *but* during fights it gets micro-freezes like a motherfucker.
I tried turning down all of the graphics settings to absolute minimum and it doesn't help either, in bigger fights I still get rock solid 60 fps but every 5 seconds the game completely freezes for a moment.
I got to the first boss fight and the issue got even worse during that boss fight, that's when I dropped the game.

Gonna wait for a hotfix or something because that's just totally unplayable.

Snake wins.

Is it worth investing my cash in the real estate game? Are the returns worth prioritizing it over upgrades initially?

Yes, by the end you will be making an insane amount of money, much more than you could through pretty much any other method.

If someone says it one more time I'm having Florina show up as a corpse. I'm not even kidding, I was pissed off with people doing that shit back in 2010, and I'm not dealing with it now in 2016.
More importantly, completing the Mini-Game unlocks Kiryu's Dragon of Dojima legend style. Which essentially is how Kiryu plays in other Yakuza games, and it takes a bit to get used to, but is also real loving powerful.

Should I be just aborting my combos when an enemy (who I dodged behind) turns mid combo, or when he starts blocking, or hit Y and pray for a knockdown?

It is. Just realise that it gets very grindy towards the end. Also beating Mr.Shakedown is way more lucrative if you look up a FAQ on how to do it efficiently.

I disabled Steam Overlay and put the Yakuza0.exe process to High priority.
One of those things solved my issues and the game runs smooth as butter now.

Your biggest mistake is getting hung up on a boss fight that is legit a bit harder than all the following ones, mostly because at this point you lack the third fighting style which is an overpowered boss killer and there are absolutely no objects lying around for you to use. Yakuza isn't really a deep, technical fighter and sometimes a little bit of bullshit is just that. 0 isn't that bad and actually really easy throughout most of the game once you get over the initial hurdle, but Kiwami has some straight up garbage enemy encounters and boss battles.

Someone please explain the Rush Style guard to me.
I like using the Rush Style a lot and it's guard seems to be really strong but I don't really understand how it works, do I need to hold it or do I need to press it in time with every incoming attack like a parry?
I used it a bunch against Kuze boss fight and it seemed to me to be completely random whether it would let me dodge the incoming combo or not.

Yakuza combat is more like Final Fight or something, you're not supposed to execute it flawlessly just do well enough to make it to the next oil drum roast chicken

Got it, thanks all. Also one of you (I presume) taught me I can use weaving if I'm taking a beating in Rush to try to bail out of the rest of the incoming combo, which is what I needed.

And knowing that a) he's a bit BS b) i should just be making it to the next wall chicken is a huge help :v:

It does seem a bit random, generally though, you hold it and you'll dodge the first incoming attack, after that you sidestep the hell out of there.

I wish Kiwami launched at the same time as 0 so you could go and fight the first boss in that game

I love Yakuza 0. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy every single installation of these games as they come out on PC too.

Even though they're vastly different games, the subject matter reminds me a lot of GTA, except its actually embracing all of the silliness of Japanese culture, rather than rejecting it wholesale through poorly written satire like GTA (I still like GTA).

This may be obvious but for anyone playing on a laptop with two graphics cards make sure it is picking the discrete card.

Thought my performance was a bit lovely until I checked and turns out it was running on the integrated. Amazed that it ran at all on the Intel 4600 but it did.

This was not how it worked on the PS4, either it's a bug or there's a LoD setting for NPCs that they forgot to make a changeable setting so it's just stuck at low.

Game rules though. I've been waiting for so long to be able to play these games on pc. First and last yakuza game I played was when I rented yakuza 1 from blockbuster. Can't wait to taste every fancy whiskey in kamurocho.

I did the .ini file edits that someone recommended earlier and have not had any problems at all so far. Game runs great.

I'm going to break the limits on the Dragon of Dojima style well before I'm finished with Chapter 2 but I'll probably need to actually play as Majima a bit before I can afford a Golden Pistol.

Also, for obvious reasons I can't actually use the style yet.

Well well, mister fancy-pants, I hope you're wearing your matching sweater today, or you'll be cut down like the ugly tree you are.
So I'm still barely out of chapter 1 in Y0 but how do I use heat in the Rush style? The tutorial suggested the best way to get a heat prompt was to grab dudes, but pressing B in Rush just does a kick.

Early save points for newcomers if you wanna replay things:

- Save the game right before you get Nishiki to take you to Dojima HQ at the end of chapter 1, you’ll want to replay it

- In chapter 2 and onwards, after you do the first main story plot thing and it becomes daytime, save the game, then go wander around the shrine for a side story.

- save again, then wander around Pink Street for another side mission that opens up

- save right before you go to the massage therapist office in chapter 4, it’s a roller coaster you’re gonna wanna replay

At this point all the Rush Heat actions you can do is to stomp or kick people on the ground, or punch a stunned enemy and send him flying into his buddies. (Only works with all three Heat bars filled.)

You'll never be able to grab dudes or objects in Rush.
