One of them is lying, I guarantee he wanted to throw one of you out a window at least 4x a game. It's a rule.

What roles did he play? Did he let you all pick what you wanted and then fill or was he sticking to support or tank or whatever? I think it's pretty uncommon to carry if you're not running burst DPS, because you can't directly impact team fights the way Like Ming or Tychus can. Obviously a GM tank is going to help a bunch of silvers by picking good engages and whatnot, but he's going to have trouble finishing or compensating for deficient play on his team.

Yeah he must have been annoyed, but he's played again with us recently so it can't be unbearable! I think I'd find it too frustrating.
He played different heroes each game depending on team comp, one as Samuro, some as Alexstrasza and one as Medivh (I died within reach of his portal because I'm an idiot). His mic is really really bad so none of us can really understand him which doesn't help. One game we played was really close and we were towards the end when we heard him say "wait why are you all top, we need to be at boss" and then the enemy team got boss and won straight away, he was just so baffled that none of us realised we needed to stop them because we were doing objective! Yeah, at Diamond I play with friends in Master/GM and I would say the differences are pretty clear cut: mostly a) map awareness, way better understanding of where to be and when, with a helping of b) mechanics, but not insofar as you're making god tier plays, more your mechanically perfect uptime is just something closer to 90% vs. 60% of gametime.

Sylv is an easy to play hero that gets a lot of value at low mmr (she's good till around early plat) but has a fundamentally low skill ceiling, and so suffers accordingly at higher MMR/proplay. She's a great character to build a solid foundation with if you're a baddie though.

My only advice is against the most common misplay: thinking you have great waveclear and lane presence when you're actually on the lower end of waveclear compared to other pushers and you are easily bullied out of lane. Sylv as at her strongest when she shuts down mercs/minions/towers while someone like Sonya tears the towers down.

KTZ is absolutely in this category. It's more likely than not you've never seen a proper KTZ combo.

He's difficult because he's a straight long-combo character (this is precisely what makes Zeratul one of these high skill ceiling infinite potential dudes) except his involves comboing skillshots.

If he lands everything he's one of the very few characters in the game that can literally delete (and I mean from 100%hp to 0%hp) a good chunk of the roster.

Illidan is very hard to play well. You have to dodge everything point-blank and never miss an auto attack. I'm certainly not saying Illidan players in my or anyone else's games are actually skilled.

I have fun playing genji (poorly but enough to do stuff) but I'm just never going to be able to react to enemy abilities fast enough to play Illidan properly.

Your teammates will always be too dumb to stand near each other and let the pathogen spread to everyone else if you cast it on them. If you use your Q on yourself, it will magically communicate the necessary skills and understanding to your teammates that they need to spread the pathogen.

I don't know why this works, but it does. And it's not low rank bullshit, either - this is how it is at Master's, too.

Yeah, I only played him twice (in brawls), and by far the best way to do it is self-cast and move around. In fairness, I usually don't notice it when someone puts it on me, I assume that's the main problem.

I watched a TS guy's Ragnaros tips video, he actually uses the 'f' key to self-cast Rag's E rather than need to get his thumb involved for the most common use of the skill.

I'll admit, I have a lot of trouble hitting ALT when I'm in the thick of things, several times I've missed and opened the Start menu (with the expected consequences in game when I'm trying to hit myself with a speed boost NOW). I need to get my gaming kb back so I can turn that off.

I believe the game has a setting to disable alt tab. Maybe there's a setting for the windows button? Galaxy brain: game on a Mac.

Also, if you have alt tab disabled you can still ctrl alt del or ctrl shift esc to being up task manager if need be.

It seems counterproductive, but I think getting really good at meta supports and warriors will take you a long way in solo queue.

Most people expect they can carry as assassin, so you end up with a ton of assassin mains in solo queue in my experience. If you play a solid support you can often give your team a huge advantage since the enemy support is likely a "carry" player who was unlucky enough to get last pick.

e. This is also assuming hero league

Yeah in QM it's probably a ranged assassin with some form of escape or mobility, in RD probably support.

There is something to be said for aiming to play off-lane in QM since so many people just want to fight in the middle. I've had games where we were up as much as 3 and 4 levels by 13 just because I hid in the bushes on the top lane and passively soaked while everyone else was slapping each other ineffectively in mid. Even if you don't go to that extreme, being able to not lose an off lane is a big plus in most QMs.

Yeah generally in QM you must be the equivalent of an ADC, though all the specialists tend to outperform in that mode as well. It's all about being all around good at most things on nearly every map. In RD it's all about filling your team's gaps.

Always remember, as a rule of thumb soaking a full wave of an uncontested lane is roughly equivalent to killing someone.

So if the entire team is fighting top or bot and you rotate and soak 2 uncontested waves while one of your teammate dies 4v5, youre coming out ahead by a good amount.

A lot of the 1600 triangle skins really are worth it as long as you are going to play the hero a lot. They have a ton of little details that you only notice after playing many matches with them.
