P.J. poking at Spender and Spender trying to ignore it because, you know, school and all, is wonderful. Also, I wonder what his unfinished business is; "exceptionally stubborn jerks" feels like a reference to Francisco, and P.J. doesn't exactly have the most forceful personality, so it doesn't seem like that part should be referring to him even before considering that, you know, the panel focuses on him when Isabel mentions unfinished business and all. Also yeah, this seems like it's winding down but we have to see what happens with Zarei and Day, at the least, before the chapter ends.

As the comic progresses Zarai will lose more and more of her children in horrible, traumatizing ways. We'll know the comic is over when her last child dies. I agree Zack probably isn't going to kill off Hijack for good.

I doubt hijack is dead, but I do think the plot is pretty much resolved for him for now. Either Zarei will find him injured and they have a heart-to-heart, or he'll disappear to turn up later having possessed a sock or something.

I was going to comment that he's also pretty top-heavy, but looking at some strips it turns out it's not as exaggerated as I remembered, compared to, say, his ghost pupil who Zarei treated back at the beginning of this chapter. This time, his first line in panel four stood out to me; in the past, I just read it as him not caring about leaving Mayview, but if you consider what can pass through the barrier, despite its supernatural nature (Nin's line in panel two, in case it's not obvious), you could interpret his line more literally: If he's a ghost, he's not trapped because he can just leave whenever he wants. Not outright proof, but another thing to throw on the pile of hints and such. Edit: On a tangent, I think that the barrier not blocking ghosts might be deliberate; trapping ghosts there, potentially preventing them from moving on or fulfilling their unfinished business or whatever, seems like a dick move even beyond the problems the barrier already presents to people. That hole could have been left to avert that. Or maybe Francisco knew the person who made it and demanded that it not trap him, resulting in that particular exception. I know Grandpa is abusive to Isabel (even if he doesn't seem to realize he is) but it makes me wonder what exact arrangement is going on legally since dead people can't have guardianship of a kid. Parents checked out but still alive and people not in the know just assume Isabel's with them? One of his students is Isabel's legal guardian?

So, I just started the comic yesterday thanks to a mispost in the Gunnerkrigg Court thread, and now Rick is getting manipulated by his Boss who apparently does The Invisible Man cosplay and is also The Best into accepting an internal inspection by the Magic Dream Police. So, yeah, I'd say I'm hooked.
