what do people actually use apple tv or chromecast for? is it things like going to youtube/netflix/hulu/etc, or connecting to a local DLNA server, or connecting to some other local resource (e.g. casting from a chrome browser instance or an iphone) or something else

if you have the others you may as well get a laptop, it is a nicely integrated experience (or if you have interest in any sort of Apple development, unless you got an iMac or want to go through a bunch of hoops (hackintosh, VMs, etc)). it’s still the best desktop *nix. they’re not perfect but still good, just, don’t care too much

i got like 2tb of music so it wont fit locally, i also have multiple devices that play that music so having it all just stop working when im not at home isnt really an option its fine though because apple ruined itunes match anyways so i just bought a plex pass
